my f'ing nuts

Lug nuts that is,

Ive noticed a lot of them are worn and getting rounded, anyone have any suggestions on what set I should go with to replace them, Id like a full set, that are a little more durable then the stock ones.

Option #1: Dorman 611-117 lug nuts (Autozone, Amazon, RockAuto)
Option #2: Chrysler Sebring/Mitsubishi MB579290 (manufacturer date of 4/1/97 or after)

I bought the Dorman's (as have others on LVC) and I am happy with them.

If you go to wheel shops to have your tires rotated and such I wouldnt suggest getting these they bitched at me last time because they weren't oem nuts, but w/e they work and I got the look I wanted.
I am not sure what size you will need but I am sure you can figure that out..
 
I bought mine individually at local Autozone stores, had to go to 2 stores to find 20. (List price: $3.99 each)
www.RockAuto.com seems to have a good price, just put in 611117 in the parts number search, add 20 to cart ($2.43 each).

Most lug nuts don't fit, stick with Dorman or Sebring.

You will need a new wrench/socket size: 13/16" or 21mm

I got this 1/2" drive Black Jack T36235W (by Torin Jacks) Adjustable Torque Wrench for $29 at Walmart, and a 13/16" 6pt 1/2" drive deep socket (or 21mm) at O'Reillys for $6, plus a 3" extension for $4. I put those in the trunk.

The Chrysler lug nuts won't work on the '06 wheel......
 
Do the Dorman's fit with all of the factory wheels? (except for the '06)

I have the Gen I factory 16" wheels and need to replace a few lugs.

The part numbers on RockAuto for my Gen I 2002 shows as being the same for those listed in 2000.
There are no separate listings on RockAuto for 16" & 17" lug nuts in either year.
 
Put 20 of these Dormans's on wife's 2000 LS from Autozone, 2 boxes of 10 ea. $2.43 a piece! 2 months later no problem!

Ok I bought some of these and after examining them and seeing how they set and fit in the wheel I just wouldn't recommend them. They seem well made and the seller was quick but the shape just doesn't fit the stock lugnut well. it is a cone that winds up riding against an almost square shoulder . I will try to post a pic if i can. I'm going to use several of them anyway out of neccesity as a tire shop just finished destroying most of my stock nuts , but will go shopping for a proper seating nut ASAP
 
Most/all of the stock wheels came with lugs that had a shoulder and a large washer - not an acorn. Acorn ones "work", but as noted, not the right fit.
The chrysler lugnut has the shoulder/washer setup. I used the Dorman version. They start looking rough after a few removals, but they're cheap enough.

I was really disappointed with how short of a time period the Dorman's chrome started flaking off. i think it was about 2 months? The lugs work good though.

Exactly! I had the Chrysler nuts (the best I have seen in this style) and they never chipped nor rusted. Not that expensive, either.

That car got totaled and my replacement car got the Dorman treatment. They are garbage with their weak outer surfaces. Mine are all rusted to :q:q:q:q.
 
Just curious.. is the price the only reason yall are using everything but the Ford nuts?
 
The integrity of the factory nuts is what started this many years ago. The original series of nuts had clad chrome covers on the outside of the steel nuts, which used to slip and enlarge the inside nuts so that the 3/4" or 19 mm lug wrench would not fit over them. The Sebring nuts were the best that anyone could find.
