Prices you paid for Stoptech SS brake lines

Where did you get them from? last i saw the were 100 for a set of 2 so 200 for the comple set.

Dunno. I got them as part of the rotorpros group buy. 350 for d/s rotors, new pads, and stoptech ss lines for all 4 corners. Thought I did pretty good.

I got them from autoanythingdotcom. I was going back and forth with a guy on ebay for these lines when that little guy in the back of my head kept saying there's got to be a better deal out there. I had him down to 91 for the front and 97 for the backs when I decided to google the part number and up came autoanything. They were $90.95 on sale for the front set and rear set. Free shipping plus cheaper taxes(don't know why the taxes were cheaper but they were). Then I remembered getting an email from autoanything and remember deleting it. I went to my deleted folder and found a coupon for 12% off any order over $150 plus free shipping and a 1 year price guarantee. I jumped on it because that little guy in the back of my head said go for it.

I've been thinking about this purchase for a while and the other night I hit the brakes hard at 140mph(I know I know, but anyway) and I just felt my brakes weren't a strong feeling as I thought they could/should be. I didn't stand on them but pressed hard enough that I expected more.

Diy

Stop-Tech is VERY proud of all their stuff. I went digging and found places where you could buy the hoses, themselves, for less than twenty dollars each. Banjo fittings and adapter fittings for the other ends cost about five dollars each. To make them completely fancy, SS support springs to be wound around the outsides of the hoses will be another twenty bucks, and HD shrink tube in colors of your choice to finish things off can be had at about five bucks for three feet. The end result is to pay less than $150. And you can say that you did it yourself!

I bought these StopTech SS Brake Lines off of eBay 9 days ago for $158 shipped no tax.

Damn you're right, BUT I live in CA so I'd have to pay 9.25% tax(why, I don't know because sales tax here is 7.25%) so 158*1.0925=172.62, I paid 172.48 so I save $0.14 YES, SCORE!!! That's right, 14 CENTS! lol. My guy in my head was right though, there was a better deal. The reason I didn't see those is because I looked up the part numbers and didn't see those listings.

About 200 for the set sounds about right. Anything below that is a good deal.

Gen1 and ge2 use the same lines, and yes gen2 can use rear lines

I just got my set of SS lines, It looks like the front doesn't come with banjo bolt's? where did you pick up your's?

The ones I got with the ss lines were crap. I had sent out my calipers to get poweder coated and when they came back they had some pretty good, solid ones. I would buy some else where evn if you did get them with the lines

Thanks that's my only choice, there's a place out in NJ somewhere I saw linked around here.

Slowing down from 140 is much more work than from even 90. Your pads, rotors, and fluid play a bigger role than the lines. A pad designed for stopping at those speeds is probably noisy and less effective at normal speeds/temps. If your rotors are rusted up and the cooling fins clogged, they can't cool enough. You start to boil your fluid depending on the age, type, and the amount of water it has absorbed (as its designed to do). Only when all these are working perfect could you feel the benefit of these lines- initial response and overall brake feel.
Downshifting will help slow you down a lot- probably D4 first at that speed, then down to 3rd. Tapping the gas may allow the gear to drop down sooner.

Sooooo...... Why, when I search for Stoptech SS brake lines, do I get Centric with the Stoptech part numbers? Did Centric purchase Stoptech? Are they (Centric) ripping off Stoptech?

right from ST website...

I was looking all over for these last night, the cheapest i found was $146.87 from a couple ebay vendors. I never thought to see if Rockauto would carry these. Awesome!
