Well i'm thinking of getting a double din this summer. i have 3 choices i'm looking at now.The jvc and pioneer both have the burr brown 24bit dac's. Pioneer has the highest preouts at 4v vs 2.5 on the jvc..Not sure what the offbrand has. The jvc you can change the colors of both the button and screen seperatly.
All the rest i've seen are pretty ugly...

^^^^Theres tons of these on there and all appear the same..I just linked the first one i saw..I would likely get one with nav for around 250ish.

Also, i would likely be keeping the factory speakers temp. What all would i need wire harness/extra doodads wise to complete this.

P.S. I HATE THE LOOK OF SINGLE DINS IN A MARK SO PLEASE DONT SUGGEST ANY :)

Also, i read alittle about adding dd to marks and pretty much just came up with dremeling some of the upper plastic off till it meets the leather above the h/u.

why not upgrade to navigation units or atleast a dvd player if your going to go double din.

thats what the last link is but i'm not about to spend 500+ on one..Its not that important to me.

All the choices you've listed are good choices. You should look at Pioneer navigation systems. They are cheap on CL.

The opening is small, so you will have to make the opening larger. I suggest you also get a double din cage to mount in there.

do most not include them?

pioneer nav units are also fairly cheap on amazon as well. you can pick up a used avic d3 through a 3rd party warehouse for about 2-400 these days. it's a little outdated sure but sure does do the job.

You don't want navi/bluetooth?

i'd like nav but don't need it..I won't pay for it unless its on the cheap. I have a 4.3" hardwired on the dash..I mean, it would be nice to have 1 less thing cluttering up my dash but it's not worth the extra dough to me. Thats why i pointed out the cheap ebay one.

If you can point one out for under 300 be my guest..I'm just now researching them so any help is appreciated.

Just did some searching around and i'm really impressed with this unit...Why cant i have money now..:(

Yeah it is very nice. Ive found it to be the best unit in the sub $300 price range.

And it can have all the other features added on later through add on boxes.

Venturing away from the LS forum.. ;)
.

I KNOW....what am i doing? LOL....

the add on gps is 275 bucks..ouch...I think i'd be fine with just the unit..

Remember going on the cheap ya get what you pay for basically :(

I am stuck on Alpine now and will not venture away as I used to be an installer years ago and found Pioneer had an issue, Also if ya look at Alpines last year models on Crutchfield they sell em off at rock bottom prices like the IVA205 I have been using for years.

Also if you get a Peripheral adaptor it will let you just plug and play without having to do any wire cutting on the stock system. I was able to just stick in the old stock head unit in my old car when I sold it.

Nice to have crossover and everything built into the head unit and have it control pretty much everything in the system.

Also when installing it I just used a box cutter to shave the top of the hole so it would fit.

Go to your local electronics store like best buy/future shop and ask for clearence items, I got a 250$ kenwood single din deck brand new for 50 bucks, it was last years model and they were just clearing them out.
