Got a little problem

Dang!
Alax7. You beat me to the punch. I can't wait to see what the finshed product looks like. Hope everything works out smoothly. He has all my info so my LS is next.

Sweet , yeah I saw you pm'd him. Yeah, I can't wait for the install!!!!

Alax, there's simply no reason not to use your headers with a turbo set-up. I'd have serious doubts about any one who tells you such a thing. Feel free to call me at 734 306 6362 to explore this subject.

He didn't say I couldn't use them. He said that the turbo kit he's going to build is going to make will be based on the stock headers. I dont know what the big difference in mounting of these or the stock headers or even how a turbo goes, so I can't say if I can or not, but I say I'll just have to modify his turbo a bit to fit with these headers if I use them, or maybe he can. Well atleast that what I think it is

looking at the other thread it looks like the turbo is mounted at the rear of the car. if thats the case then i dont see why you couldnt use the headers.

actually its mounted behind the front bumper on the passenger side, and the long tubes probably go way to far back in the car for the exhaust to be routed back to the front and still have enough clearance

You're probably right.I'll be sure to ask sbout the problem with the headers in more detail. I still want to see how the headers would affect a N/A ls. Someone should buy a set

You can't use your long tube headers because you are getting a turbo at cost?

boo. f*cking. hoo.

*owned*., Pete 1, Alex0.................. For now ;)

Well I just wasn't expecting to do a turbo for another year maybe and really wanted to use those headers. I scraped money to get them and now I can't use them so it sucks for me, but I am getting a turbo in it's place so I can't really complain.

I have decided to sell the headers and just get some later on instead of wasting more money now trying to get them installed after the turbo. I will start a thread with it for sale. Pm me if you're interested, 700 plus shippingg.I wont be back on until tomorrow night, going to a lake, so I wont reply back until then, first pm with money takes them.

Is he building a rear mounted turbo set up on your car? If he is it will be no big deal whether or not you have long tubes or not. It's if he intends to build a traditional turbo set up for your car that you wouldn't be able to use LT's.

He'll be doing a traditional turbo mount application. At least, that's what it said in the thread he was posting in.

yea i was under the impression that it was going to be like the last one behind the bumper, i would almost rather have a rear mounted setup and then use the headers

We can PM money now??

sorry, forgot some words in there, but you know what I meant, but if you were drunk you probablky didn't and thought you actually could pm money. I meant it as, first pm that is ready to pay gets them. First come first serve I guess you can say.

By the way, sale pending.

Aren't rear mounted set ups bad in rain, Isn't the filter down below under the car?

K&N makes that sock for the air filter to prevent water infiltration. Shouldn't be an issue.

Too bad gen 1's can't do turbos... (stupid air assisted injectors).

I wonder if we can swap a gen 2 intake mani/fuel rail to make it work...

Well yeah, the turbo deal is a great part! The bad part is that it's pointless for me to install the headers now and I just bought them. I really wanted to run headers and see how they performed. Guess i'll have to pass them to someone else.

Oh and things got a little better. I took them to fedex the second they arrived yesterday to ship out to jet hot so they could get coated, I was able to catch them right now with the headers still there, so I saved me some money.

you're focusing on all the wrong details

I'm thinking probably not. Since our gen 1's have the TB in the back, the manifolds won't be compatible. And since the TB's are different designs (our's are a true mechanical linkage to the accelerator, the gen 2 is electronic throttle), methinks it can't be done.

you would just have to make your own manifold like quick did.
