22s Are now on...Pics

they ran me 1800 wheels tires mounted and balance..lock n lugs... Thanks for the compliments on the tails..the wheels actually sit under the car and no tire sticks out the fender
 
The wheels r hot. How's them ball joints holdin up j/p...but for real...
 
yeah thats something you'll have to deal with.... those ball joints! lol I replace my every winter before I put my stocks back on for the winter. If you want to ride clean I hope you can handle the repairs coming with it...
 
Looks good except it is too high. I've personally seen 22's on a LS in person. The cars body lines just don't look right with rims bigger than 20 in my opinion. This topic has been beaten to death on this form. Just be ready to pay a price for having those huge wheels on the LS. And that's a fact.

and sounds like he hasn't bothered to put in a dot 4 or 5 brake fluid, better brake pads, better rotors, and SS brake lines yet at all which should be done before the BIG WHEELZ are put on....that way the stopping power can handle the 19+ wheel change
 
I was expecting to open this thread and start laughing but those rims look good. Definitely needs some new/bigger rotors though.
 
22s look too big. Would have looked 10xs better with same wheels in 20s just lowered.
 
Ah, youth. Those were the days. I remember back when I used to do stupid stuff for attention. I didn't have the Polo sticker on the back of my vehicle though. I had Dead, Phish and Soundgarden stickers instead.

If you can't tell, I'm not a fan. But, I'm just an old-timer don't listen to me.
 
lol. I had 2 deadie bears and a phish sticker on my car back in college. Soundgarden. I forgot all about them. They rocked :cool:

The current Car and Driver did comparison tests on wheel/tire packages on a VW Golf test car I think. from 15 to 19. 0-60, 1/4 mile, ride quality, handling, and MPG ALL progessively got worse as it went up to the 19 size. I can only imagine the negative impact to the LS that 22 inch wheels have. ANd the lifted 4X4 look is NOT cool.

But I hope he kept his stock wheels. If he checks the archives, he'll see a LOT of 20 inch and up wheels that went on sale a few months after the owner installed them, then found out how easily the larger wheels bend and how terrible the ride quality is over time.
 
where did you get them and what size tires did u get. Bc i think 22's might be coming soon i want 20s but might be a change of plans

I read that too. I remember how bad the 20s made my LS. I imagine what 22s gonna do to that poor car. With 20s my gas mileage dropped from 22-24 to 16-18mpg. Acceleration was much worse, and the braking sucked. Im not even talkin about the ride quality. Steering wheel shaking and the other vibrations due to low quality non hubcentric wheels. Oh man.
 
My LS rides beautifully on 20's. Got my alignment and balance done at Firestone and they really know what they are doing. I don't think people who get 20's and up are the same people who are concerned with 0-60 and quarter mile times. I don't take off hard, never go more than 65, and don't drive agressively so I rarely stop hard either. There are a few cars out there that look about right with 22's but I don't think LS's require them. 20 is plenty. Not bad looking though, op.

I hear you. But if that's what we're primarily concerned about I think people on perfectly sized 17's, and 18's who haves turned their LS into a race car to speed around in have made just as big an error as people who put on big wheels. I'm on big wheels and the next man is going 100 mph. Were both wrong lol
 
For sure. I don't trust tires enough to drive 100 mph.
 
I'll go 100, but not for any length of time. cruising at 90? Sure. And I've been up to 118 in my LS, but that was for about 1/2 a second just to see what the car was like at that speed. Yesterday I saw a Caprice on what looked to be about 30's on the south side of Chicago. It was parked at a detailing shop. Not my style, but more power to you.
