Fogged headlight

Are you kindding me? I think theres plenty of people like that out there and you know what if your someone that happens to be one of them and messes up cause you cant use common sense or follow directions then its your fault plain and simple flat out and no one should kiss ass. Plenty people do it for many reasons with many different cars!

If it has water spots then why the hell would you not want to take it apart and clean them out? That is the bottom line. I also used the word if in my first reply for a reason.

I dont see why you have to be a prick about it. If it has water spots then why the hell would you not want to take it apart and clean them out? That is the bottom line. I also used the word if in my first reply for a reason.

Wow, how old are you, buddy? You're calling me a prick for no reason. And my point here is you are giving bad advice to people by telling them that it's "hard to melt" your headlights in the oven. Talk about common sense, how stupid of a statement is that? Yeah, it's really hard to melt plastic putting it in the oven. What a genius statement. Take a chill pill man. And by the way, anyone reading this will think that you're the prick, not me. Grow up, and quit giving lousy advice.

Awesome, looks like you completely changed your post. You might want to take advantage of the "Preview Post" button; it's there for a reason. And by the way, anyone who's subscribed to this thread will have gotten your original response in their email, not the one you edited. ;)

How is it bad advice?
I cant believe this guy. All over a simple post about moisture. Certain plastics require a certain amount of heat before it hits the melting point not all are the same. I got all this info from this same site! So now giving the advice that I obtained from here is giving bad advice huh? Please.

And I am the one who's age is now at question. I am the one looking at it with a open mind here. Am I not?

I also was mature enough to edit my post before you responded. I could care less if someone else sees it the fact is that I decided to retract it for a reason.

Your the idiot attacking me simply cause I said it wont hurt taking it apart if you have moistuire in it.

Wow, you prove my point yet again, continuing to call names like a 5-year-old. You truly don't need to keep this up, you've already shown everyone how immature you are. But, hey, if you want to, that's your deal. I'm done with this thread.

just in case anyone remembers why this was started in the first place...

can anyone provide a comparison pic of the black and gray glue?

This is gonna sound retarded, but i can't tell what i have. mostly because i dont know where to look. lol

I cant help with the pics but it should be clear.

I think Pektel posted a pic a few days ago, at the top of the headlights you should see these tabs with holes in the center. Well, coming out of that hole will be dabs of what ever sealant you have be it Black or Grey.

I hope this helps. If not search for something along the topic of headlights posted over the last few days.

Yep I think I posted a link or something, but I just ran out and took a pic of mine. When I took them aart, I only had red sealant, so it will be very easy to see where I put three dabs to seal it up good. And for those wondering, no you can't see the red when the hood is closed. And yes, I did paint the weatherstrip to get rid of the big black space between the eyebrows and hood. No it doesn't stay looking good for long,. I'm working on something else for it now. Here's the pic:

would it be natural for a 2001 to have black sealant? because im pretty confident thats what i have. i thought they only did the black on the later years?

I think that is still a mystery.

I know of a person with a 2000 that had black and I know a few members that were selling 2000 headlights had black as well.

Alright well here's what I'm dealing with. I think with the other mods I intend to do I might just buy a couple new lights from ebay or something if I can find a deal.
As you can see it's a fairly significant moisture problem I'm having.

Sure is.....;)

Why not just use a,...... hair dryer?

thats the intention, but i also want to get into it later on to do some things. so i might just save myself the hassle and order a couple new ones with gray sealant so i can play around with them.

Order new ones.

Trust me its going to be a huge PITA to clear out that moisture I will guarantee it will leave some spots or some type of messy streaks.

mines almost as bad moisture wise - in a 2000 LS and i have the black sealant too. When i finish the HP upgrades new lights and lowering springs are the first to come, no point in taking these apart i think..but if you want i think we've proved that there are some ebay aftermarket lights that look OEM and are easily seperated like grey sealant headlights for Angel Eyes and clearing.

Get new ones on EbAY cheap!

Mine fogged and I found a guy who sells after market lights for about $79 each on Ebay. I bought two and they were perfect fits. Never had a problem of fogging since I put them in. It only takes a few minutes to install them. :D

i find it hard to believe that the headlights would be leaking from the factory seal where the two pieces of the headlights bond together unless they have already been taken apart, but i guess it's possible, but just a quick note, has anyone thought about the seal where the actual bulb goes in the headlight? Might not be the answer but i'm sure it's worth a look, they could be worn from being compressed for so long or maybe they got a little ripped when someone replaced a bulb or it may be non existent at all.

I'm not saying i'm right, but i don't think anyone has thought of it and might at least be worth a look, just my 2 cents

a little moisture problem? Looks like you took the headlight into the bath with you. I'm getting more and more jealous of you LS guys, the only options I have are 220 for oem headlights (which still suck because the chrome peels off after)

For less than $100 a piece shipped those ebay replacements look damn good.

I bought the aftermarket headlights and they are just like OEM. They have grey sealant and are easily separated in the oven. The clear plastic front lens from the aftermarket lights even fit and seal up to the factory housings if needed. (I changed just the clear front lens because I have modified housings that just needed new lens only)

here's my pics of the $100 headlights (for both). they are exactly like oem and have the gray sealant. i love them, i've washed my car like 3 times since i installed them and have gotten absolutely no moisture.

It is a good thought but it has been a common problem with the LS from looking around on the site.:)

If those are the ones that were just discussed within the last few days, then from what I hear, yes they are worth it! Buy a pair and swap them both so they match. Otherwise it looks tacky with one weathered lense, and the other brand new.
