welp me and my buds are going tonight, and hopefully the damn hurricane stays away. if you followed last weeks thread, we got rained out. im hoping it will be lower 70s or higher 60s for temp tonight, and im also hoping the humidity stays down too. what are your predictions? im shooting for <14.6.

just got back. best was a 15.2 @ 93. cant figure out why the mph is so slow, maybe it was the DA. The DA was 3000+, and my 60' wouldn't under a 2.3. im hoping with colder air later this fall and with the new stickier tires after the hubswap things will look up. Kinda bummed..

What is your best time prior moss? In a hopefully positive light of your situation, 3000+ DA is HORRIBLE. My next question would be how was your launch, what technique did you use, and what tires were you running? I am just going to come straight out and say that if you are not using drag radials with your gearing and the setup you have now, you are leaving quite a bit on the plate for ET. As you have noticed, these cars are light in the tail and need sticky tires even if your only mod is a little bit of gear. Also I cannot verify with certainty the coil spring vs. airride setup in terms of track times because I haven't had chance to test it out yet, but I have had a Mark8 guy tell me that he has launched these cars on air with better luck than a standard coil conversion. I am hoping that the "unstandardness" of my setup will hopefully not take a big hit to my short times.

I ran a 15.4 @ 93 but with a DA of 1300 and a 60 foot of 2.3, and it's stock. So, it has to be the DA where your at. Do you have the check engine light on? If so, wouldn't hurt to pull some codes, or who knows, it could be out and not working?

How was your R/T?

ET chasing almost always leads to disappointment.
Its fun just to go, hang out, run your car.
I would kill to have a track 5 min away.

According to Drag Times, @ 7:53 pm the DA was 3484 ft.

15.2 @ 93 corrects to 14.557 @ 97.173 MPH, right about where it should be, considering your mods. Without a higher stall TC, you're probably not going to get much better 60's.

Post your best time slip so we can see it.

Not as easy as it looks, huh?

- my prior best was a 15.4, in maybe a bit better air, but pretty close
- launching consisted of hold at ~1000 rpm and flashing the converter. Usually resulting in the car not hooking.
- the tires were crap bf Goodrich street tires. So bad that I chirped 3rd once with them
Ill certainly be watching you kirk to see how you do this fall. Good luck man

Car was running as smooth as a sewing machine and the imrcs were functioning properly. Ill be going back when its cooler and when I'm on some sticky nitto 285s

Thanks Doug . I certainly have a higher stall planned, just not sure when though
Also didn't say it was easy, although it does get expensive

The DA @ 8:53 pm (closest reading) was 3348.

15.29 @ 92.23 corrects to 14.67 @ 96.193.

How was your R/T?

Reaction time has no effect on ET.

Thanks. Unfortunately I'm not sure at this point if that is going to happen this year.:( I am going to be picking up a supercharged Mark VIII in Kansas so I think all of my money is spent for the year. It might have to wait until next spring.

doug how close are you to sea level?

Doug was at negative DA when he ran his 13.22 The track he goes to is pretty much at sea level.

Think realistically and positively though moss. You had terrible DA and you are running stock converter, stock intake, and log manifolds. That right there equates to a huge amount of ET on these cars. And if you were to take the corrected time that Doug provided you with and factor in these other key components, you would be in the 13s on a cool day. If you want to run 13s, you need to put together the recipe found in the same cookbook that Doug and I have used. He's added a few more ingredients to his recipe, but the bare bones recipe that we both started out with brought us into the 13s. And there was one point in time where he was literally 1 thounsandth faster than I was. (13.590 to my 13.591) That shows you right there some consistency in performance with key ingredients. Obviously, he has became a crazier chef in the kitchen than I at this point though which is why he is faster. ;) I will always say, that especially with the Gen2s you cannot skimp on any of these ingredients and expect to run 13s. You're just setting yourself up for failure. Expect to have a 14 second range Mark VIII until then. With the DA and street tires you were running I wouldn't even count this timeslip. Tear it up and throw it away and go back again in cooler weather with sticky tires and see where you are at and go from there. ;)
