Gen II V8.

Trying to swap my radiator but I can't get it out of the bay. So in attempting to get the cooling fan and shroud out to make more room, I can't get to the bolts to remove the auxiliary coolant pump from the fan assy.

I'm thinking maybe an offset open-ended wrench but you guys usually have some ideas.

The problem is that the bolts are about 20 inches away looking down from the top of the engine bay, and from the bottom looking up, there seems to be a giant crossmember blocking my tools. So frustrating!

TIA

I left the fan/shroud in the car. And I did use a 20" extension a couple of times. It really helps to have a good helper.

I'd go buy a 20" extension in a heartbeat but the bolts are positioned horizontally, 20" down. I'm not sure an extension would do any good.

Trying to get it out without pulling the fan to make more room is like trying to extract a breached child. Either the left side gets caught or the right side gets caught.

If I disconnect the lines on the left side of the A/C condenser, will I have to re-charge?

Ok, so I'm not gonna do that. I'm going to wait til the morning to take another whack at this (my wrist is scraped, fingers are sore, and it's damn near 100 degrees outside), but it would be great to have a few more angles to try by then.

I can't speak for the GEN II but on the GEN I the Auxiliary coolant flow pump is mounted above the DCCV as opposed to below it. Of course on the GEN I it's easier to get it out because it's top located, so that doesn't help you much. For what it's worth, Yeah the radiator fan shrouding was a bitch and left marks on the inside of the right arm when battling the DCCV. (Fn thing!)

Best of luck with repair Stump!, you can do it! ... try not to mess with the A/C or Trans cooling lines too much, they don't like getting moved around.

It's in there. Used every piece of my body gettin it back in. Was holding the condensor with my cheek at some point. I Have 1 leftover bolt I couldn't get it in the auxiliary pump . So, she will have to do with the one screw for a while...

I don't know how you do it single handed like that sometimes Stump! Kudos to you for sure, getting more done than most.
Holding the condenser with your cheek deserves a beer!

A little love from the LS: Radiator fins scrape when trying to get the combo cooler off the clips.

You're not doing it right if you're not walking out with a souvenir :) Last time I was in the engine bay I sliced my index finger down to the bone.
