What is it about these cars?

I have had mine for a couple months now and it is my daily driver. I do a lot of stop and go, for work since I am a vendor and service up to 8 stops a day.
Given that mine is in nice shape with relatively low miles (108k), I am already paranoid about it being dinged up or beaten up from abuse. Which is why I tend to park far away form other people.

As a result, I can't seem to get the idea out of my head of picking up another Mark to DD, so I can focus on just modding and keeping this one in good shape. Now that I am no longer on the hunt for one, I have seen a few first gen 1's local pop up for under $2k in good shape.

So what the hell is it about these cars where you are like "yeah I really like this car...how do I justify buying more of them".

If i had more money i would just have more mark viii's. Its that simple. lol.

Your telling me, I am the same way. Can't wait to get out of school, and start a career. I will have a nice car collection....at some point.

Eventually when time and funds prevail, I will have this car with a 03 Cobra motor, 6 speed, etc. That will be many moons from now.

thats what I said about 5 years ago, and here I am with no 03/04 cobra motor :( I fail.

I bought my first mark 2 years ago. Since then i have had a total of 6. Trying to buy another one as soon as i get the money. :D That will put 3 and 2 halfs in my yard/driveway. LOL

Damn! I am happy with the one I have, and plan on keeping it for a long while...and maybe another one.

Think it is addicting having a car that is comfy, decent power, and good looks.

I really dont know what it is with them. I guess its cause all the features and style, was so far ahead of its time. I love my Mark and for the first time I can say I like my white one much much more.
I went outside at 8 PM so I could clean my brand new floor mats that the window guys trampled mud into. And the tape on the back window was coming off so I went ahead and removed it but then noticed just how dirty she was so I washed it..... then removed all the marks with rubbing compound and a lite coat of wax..... then I polished the wheels.... then I touched up every chip I could find and then waxed the whole car.
I then realized I have to go to work tomorrow so I just polished the display for the climate controll. Mine was hazy and it bugged me. Then I stared at it for 15 minutes as my feet started to freeze. I could have stared at it all night.
Rice you knew about my 03 Cobra, well in many ways I like the Mark much better.... now if it only had the 03's power. :D

Instead of buying a beater I say just drive it, and fix it!! It means more that way! I've repainted this car 3 times. Ha. People notice when you daily drive a car for 7 years and it always looks brand new. :D

I like the car's anonymity and the fact that it's cheap. Good community, too. (albeit small)

Lets see, 2 door, comfortable ride, proper wheel drive, good performance, decent aftermarket support, oh and it's not a boring ass Mustang or F-body that everybody has one of.

I think that the Mark VIII was one of the most beautiful cars ever produced. Long nose, short trunk, 2 door, RWD -- Exactly what a real car should be. I'd own a fleet if I could afford it. I get complements maybe once a week on my car, people ask if I have had the wheels rechromed, or the car repainted... its all original.

I also love the car but I could stop buying them at any time
I swear I could its not an addiction I swear

HAH

Build a mod motor for your mark, it will be cheaper, less of a hassle, better performing and most likely alot lighter.

trust me I know

I get people looking at my Mark regularly. Some ask me what it is or when did they start making them. And every Mark owner I run across we give each other a thumbs up all the way from ages 18-80. I would really love to get a gen 2 in the same color but right now looking for a nice P71 since my kids are complaining about having to clime in the back of the Mark.

Several reasons, but chief among them is the combination of luxury features and respectable highway passing power.

I just went outside to smoke and ended up staring at it with a chit eating grin. Its just such a damn good looking car and does many things well. I just had to snap a couple camera phone pic. I dont care, I am a picture whore but the car brings me so much joy. :)

I wanted my Gen II because it was a 2 year only design, and you sure as hell do not see one on every street corner. I have only seen 3 other ones on the road since I bought mine. I had 2 gen I's before that, miss them both. I wanted a Mark VIII ever since seeing the famous lowering commerical during the 1993 NCAA mens national championship basketball game, but at age 20 I could not afford one. I have an itch for 2 things right now, a truck and another Mark VIII for the wife to drive daily. She loves the cars as much as I do.
