I saw (recently) a post on here about the 'favored' catch code for 93, the one with the most agressive tune, but cannot find it-

I have 2-93 ECU's, I don't have my 93 anymore so I will probably be selling these either here or on ebay in the near future. I think these could be used on a 94 and 95 also, so I wanted to see if there was an interest in these. One is Z4H0, the other W3Z3-thanks

W3Z2 is the most aggressive tune with W3Z3 close behind. I believe the Z4H0 is a 94 PCM.

Is it also true that the W3Z2 does not have a speed limiter? I've heard both yes and no. And also, are these easily swapped with no complications?

If Someone can post tables of the spark, fuel and any other related items of the different catch codes that would be so great! (Tommy…)

ok i have a 93 mark viii my catch code is w3z2 and i open it up on the turnpike and on third gear od of it was like 135 still red line it around 6250 6300 couple time it went to 6500 hundred i have the 308 gears, ive done it just once.

the speedlimiter isnt based on mph...so there is no real set in stone answer.

the limiter is set to 15000 driveshaft rpms

the later years have it kicking in at 5320 DS rpms

Are you sure? In my 1993 the limiter hit and cut power at ~130mph in both 3rd and 4th gear. Wouldn't the drive shaft be spinning at different rpm's in different gears? I always thought it was MPH that made the limiter come on.....as soon as I hit ~130, the limiter cut the power.

Although it does make sense that it is something other than speed that kicks the limiter on because higher geared cars have the speed limiter lowered, right? I haven't hit the limiter in my 98.....yet, but I'm told it is at ~125mph.

an LSC will hit the limiter before a base model will due to the gears..OSS speed

and yes ken i'm VERY sure, I am looking at the software, I have it open in front of me.

What am I missing then? Wouldn't the drive shaft be spinning at a different RPM in 3rd gear at 130mph then at 4th gear at 130mph? Unless the limiter cuts in at a different drive shaft RPM in 3rd gear, vs. 4th gear.....that would seem like it would be hard to do??

Not like this really matters that much, just interested in how it works.

Ken

dunno what your missing, but it IS what it IS
later models have a driveshaft speed limiter set at 5300 DS RPM'

the early 93's have it set to 5300 DS RPMS

there are 3 different limiters..the one I mentioned is "stage 1"
could be stage 2 and 3 are for use in "other gears"...shruggs.

not really if you think about it.
Driveshaft speed IS what it IS.

in 3rd the ENGINE is turning a different RPM than 4th @ 140..but the driveshaft..isn't.

140 is 140 at the driveshaft..the " trans gears" are between the input and output shaft.

OSS stays the same..unless you swap rear gears
