i dont know if you guys think this is a good idea or not, but i think we should start a thread with our vins, current and old cars.. this way we all can also use the search with our vins, maybe we will find some of us own cars some of used to own, could be kinda cool.. if if not just tell me im a moran and forget it...

I'm going to say bad idea. Someone could get a key cut at the dealer with the info you just gave them. I used to do auto repos and all I needed was a vin for a new key.
 
Not a bad idea, but dealers will not cut a key to anyone with a vin #. You would have to produce some sort of proof of ownership of that car, ie a title, vehicle registration, or insurance card. ;)

When I was 16, my DL was suspended and the rents took my keys. They were gone a lot for work. So I called the stealership and got a key made and they never asked me for nothing, but the $24.
 
How about we list the cars we have owned and if any of us had the same car then we can trade vin's if we had the same one?
 
too bad we couldnt make a good system for this, i would love to track down some old cars of mine.. we could just do the cars we no longer own?? there is no place on the internet to locate cars you once owned, or to even find out if they have been crushed at the junkyard.. i would love to find out what happened to some of my old cars.. would be really cool...

Im all for that and if we find one that someone had thats that same as one we had then we could PM that person to find out more about that car

here in IL if you have previously owned a car and want to find it you go to the dmv and they will tell you the current owner.
