Turbo your LS!

i friend of mine bought a twin turbo kit for his 5.0 mustang off ebay for really cheap awhile ago and it worked perfectly. im not sure if it was from the same seller though.

It looks like a good deal, if not just for all the parts you get... now making it work on an LS... thats a whole nother bunch a shat. As for getting most of what you need on the cheap though... $400 is a steal. Even if it didn't work on my LS I could put it on my wifes focus easy I'm sure :P

I know(personally) of quite a few cars running ebay turbos/kits that get more abuse than I can think of. I dont know why all these people that dont run them nor have bought them say theyll blow up and all this other superstitious crap just because theyre Chinese made or whatever. Last time I checked America doesnt exactly have the best quality product out there, it all depends on the manufacturer. Anyways, that turbo would be ideal for the V6 LS's, not the V8's.

I wouldn't mind a turbo for the V8, more cost effective in my department. Hey missin' know of any good turbo manufactures?

Wow, that screams good quality. :D

Actually a friend of mine has a cheap of the cheapest turbo kits known from ebay on his '99 integra. Other than having to get it to fit and welding the header in different spots every couple weeks, it runs pretty good having gone as fast as a 14.1 at the strip. I'm not saying we should buy these though.

its obviously a universal kit...dont see how that would bolt up to anything

Even on the one ILLS built?

it would be but i've heard nothing but blown engines on the rear mount :P

Sounds like that would be a tune issue. The turbo still makes boost. Use the right size tubing and a faster spooling turbo when going rear mount. The use of a scavenge pump is needed to return the oil to the engine, but otherwise the same. If not better the turbo stays cooler and the air charge is cooler. Sometime an intercooler may not be needed.

So why would you say the placement of the turbo is the reason of the failure.

wow....

there are countless cars out there with rear mount systems getting gobbs of power without any blown motor issues.

rear mount LS has been done a few times. One had his motor blow, but that was his second motor anyway so who knows. The first sold his car and then the turbo set up. Another one had issues with the turbo set up itself, mostly because he wanted one thing when he started and then changed what he wanted which would require a different turbo all together.

it's just what I've heard from other threads on the issue. I'm not stating it was the turbo...I'm just saying the only people that did rear mount got blown engines or sold their car before installation (like ILLS)

noone sold it before installation that i know of. ILLS had his and steves up and running in the same video. Cam had issues with his that is believed to be the tune/his motor and not the turbo set up

hmmm well I'll have to consider it when I'm done with the cosmetics on my car to head into the performance since anything sucking in air under the hood will just be sucking in hot air :P
