I recently bought a 93 Mark VIII and am thoroughly in love with it, but...I have a problem and would like to know if anyone has any insights to share. The problem is unintended acceleration. There have been about 5 occasions when the engine just races and the car will move by itself if I take my foot off the brake. It will idle down with a sharp tap to the gas pedal, but as big as the car is, it's pretty unnerving when it happens. Took it to my mechanic who sprayed some WD-40 type stuff on the accelerator cable which helped temporarily. As soon as I bought it, I had a fuel injector cleaning service done. Anybody have any advice?
And by the way, make no mistake about it, these cars are VERY FAST!!. Even before the tune up, it hit 80 mph in what seemed like a heartbeat and I could hardly feel it. Gotta say there is something very gratifying about passing a BMW in a Mark VIII.
