First off, I searched and found nothing, all threads relate to removal in pre '03 LS's. I have removed the top vent piece, the silver faceplate from the stock head unit, the climate controls, and the ashtray, and the stock head unit is still attached on a weird pivot point at the lower back edge. It feels like it is right behind where the climate controls sit. I cannot for the life of me see what to do to slide this unit out of the dash. Someone please help.....

You shouldn't have to remove the faceplate. And you don't need to remove the climate control unit. You need to remove the lower console trim piece, the piece around the shifter. GENTLY pry up on the front part. The console ash tray assembly (as you've already done) also needs to be removed. As in all LS years, there are 4 screws holding in the radio/climate control assembly; One at each corner. The radio/climate control assembly will pull straight out. Were I you, I would put some kind of a protector (towel, thick cloth, etc.) over the console and shifter. The assembly is bulky and cumbersome.
