Steering column up/down problem

With the "easy exit" feature turned on, the steering column will usually go into up-retract when exiting, and then come back down when entering the car. Once in a while it will extend, but not come back down. The button to make it go up or down/in or out, doesn't want to work any longer.

Does the "Easy Exit" feature need to be on for the button to adjust the column?

Any idea what might not be working?
