Recently I have noticed when driving without the radio, that the brake pedal squeaks when depressed. More when cold, but pretty much all the time. I have looked at all the possible sources and have lubed those that I could reach with no luck in quieting the squeak. Does anyone have recommendation as to where to lubricate? I at first suspected the point in the firewall where the brake shaft goes through, but see no way to introduce a lubricant. This is on a 2004 V8.

Lubricant probably wont help. There is a small plastic bushing that goes on the pedal where the push rod connects to it. Kinda fits inside the hole in the push rod. Its probably worn through which gives you metal on metal contact between the push rod and the post on the pedal. They have kits with assorted sized bushings at most parts stores for 1.99 or something like that. Might not be it but its worth taking the push rod off the pedal and taking a peak to be sure.

Thanks, that is definatly something to look at. It really sounds like rubber on metal, but I guess it could be the bushing.

Brake Fluid

I have noticed this if my brake fluid isn't maxed out (just over max killed the squeal). Worked for me. Good luck..

Thanks, I will try that. Mine was just above the minimum line. I will let you know in a few days if the squeak goes away.:)

I want to let everyone know that this solution worked for me. After several days of driving I can confirm, No More Squeaks!

I don't see why that would fix it, but if it works it works.
Been working on cars for over 50 years now, and it never ceases to amaze me when some random problem is solved by a seemingly unrelated adjustment.:)

I had a squeaky brake pedal in my '93 Vic. I flushed the brake fluid as part of 2-year routine maintenance and the squeak was cured.
