Who knows what it is? I'd rather not get under the car and measure if someone ACTUALLY knows...

Search the threads there was a thread started a few days ago by a member who is trying to change out the bushings on his.

What are the symptoms that the rear sway bar bushings need replacement?

Hey dude... don't tell me to search the threads... do I look like some kind of new guy to you?!?!

The thread is simple... if you know the diameter of the rear sport sway bar... post it. Otherwise, make your comments else where. But, IF you can find that information, please by all means do make me look like a fool and post a link to the thread where that information can be found.

Thanks

Well it looks like that's going to be the case; guess I'll do it tomorrow.

I'm considering doing the control arm bushings too; provided they have a universal size that will fit. We'll see what I come up with

Good luck. I couldn't find any aftermarket control arm bushings for the LS. I searched google for hours looking for them, and all I could come up with was the dealer, and they'll tell you you have to order the whole control arm.

Energy has some universal sizes listed on their site; I just have to get the measurements. If they don't have them, I'll look at a couple other poly companies. Should I still be unsucessful like you were... well, such as life.

Careful with poly on the control arm bushings. On many cars using poly there WILL result in a significant amount of added noise/harshness. Ditto for poly motor mounts.

I really don't see that being much of a problem. The rear control arms only have one bushing on the forward leg of each arm. The rearward leg is connected to the subframe by what's called a Heim joint. (Also called a shperical rod end in some cases) It's like a ball joint, but with a hole through the middle of it for a bolt to pass through instead of a stud sticking out of one side.

Here's a picture of a few:

I don't see any way a polyurethane bushing can increase NVH more than one of those.

I still don't think it would make that much difference. Polyurethane does have many different levels of "hardness" so you can probably pick out one that doesn't affect it any more than the new rubber bushings would.

Sooo...has anyone figured out the size of the rear sport sway bar bushings?? I have been searching through old posts and this post seems to have started off in the right direction but, seems to be drifting off the subject...

not yet... I keep putting it off! I swear, I'll do it tomorrow when I get home from work! The squeak is just getting worse and worse, so it's moving up on my priority list.

I would go check it on mine but, I have the non-sport...for the next week and a half or so....

Posted in a new thread... hoping to skip past the BS this threat has.
