what should be the right gap width for a lincoln ls tear 2000 V6?? i have read somewhere between .040 and .050 which is correct?? Girty from the Cherokee Indain Rez, Cherokee North Carolina...

In the owner's manual on page 249 the gap for the V8 should be set at 0.039-0.043 inch (0.99-1.09mm).

According to Bosch.com.... looks like .044"

2001 LINCOLN LS V8-3.9L(242) VIN=A GAS engine

Part Number.......Description
FR8DPX.............PLATINUM PLUG Gap=.044
4202.................PLATINUM PART Gap=.044
4301.................PLATINUM2 Do not Gap
FR8DCX.............SUPER PLUG Gap=.044
7557.................SUPER PART OE Plug is Platinum; Gap=.044
4418.................PLATINUM+4 Do not Gap

I don't know if this is the same for the V6 but check your owner's manual.

Look under your hood at the OBDII label, its white and on the underside of the hood if memroy serves.

In the bottom left corner of the sticker it says what the spark plug gap should be.

plug gap

advance sale person stated that the V6 should be gaped at .054.... does this sound correct?

off the top of my head i think its .052 - .056 Motorcraft Platinum Plugs. They come pre gapped. as do most platinum plugs because you start sticking a gapper in there you will mess up the platinum coating on the electrodes.
