Question about outside temperature sensor

Recently the outside temperature button on my 97 Mark has been on the fritz. Sometimes it works, other times says it is -40. Occationally it is inbetween.

Where is this sensor located and is it an easy fix?

Any insight would be much appreciated.

Its up front behind the grill. Easy to get to if you remove the black beauty cover. It looks just like a coolant sensor that is exposed...... matter of fact the part number may even be the same. :lol:

Just an FWI, it might be a bit tight and hard to get off. It’s mostly plastic and superman himself tightened it. Hit it a few times with some LPS or kroil penetrating fluid.

Thanks for the info. Mine's been doing the same thing on my '96. Just the other day, it was at least 99 degrees outside and my temp sensor said it was 40. Crazy.
