Proper Trans fluid?

What is the proper trans fluid. I know the original fluid has issues with shifting in cold situations. Ford has a fluid to fix this....Whats the fix?

Mercon V, not III.

It was'nt just to solve a "Cold Shifting" problem but addressed the fialure of the oil to properly lubricate the clutches in the tranny. Mercon V is a total synthetic oil where Mercon lll was a semi-synthetic, and was not up to the task, and caused to many tranny issues so FOMOCO changed specs.
