odd noise quick Q:?

Ok I put a new alternator on my 97 lsc and now it makes a loud humming noise and has a burning smell. Did I get a bad alternator? Its a new alternator. Or did I put something back on wrong?

check your belt make sure its not rubbing on the timing cover

you may have your belt off a rib on one or more of your pulleys, but usually when you do, it only takes seconds to shred the belt!!

Make sure it isn't the tensioner rubbin a big hole in the cover.
