Anyone know anything about these? I have only dealt deeply with the EEC-IV. OBDII is new to me! No paperclip code pulling here!

I thought about getting one and my car sensed it. Threw the check engine on me tonight. WTH! I am glad it did though, as I need to troubleshoot an intermittent rough running engine. I guess my computer finally noticed it too.

I use ScanTool from AutoEnginuity - http://autoenginuity.com/ - it won many awards.

I also have the 'Ford Enhanced module' that can sense all this -> http://www.autoenginuity.com/FordAllSystemsList.html

it's pretty awesome, I used it to log all the data we used to create the tunes for the SCT XCalibrator.

I have it wired into my car 100% of the time - in my Car-puter, displaying realtime as I drive.

I bought this sam product under quiks recommendation and it has been the second biggest asset to my garage. It only second to my shop manuals.I bought the extended set ford codes as well.

The guy does list his product on ebay and you can usually save a little coin by bidding for it there. OBD scan tool is a must have for todays DIYers.

I don't have that model but I have an Omni Nova ($100), I think it was. Scanners are great they will tell you what system is sending erros so at least you can narrow down what you are trying to fix. Far better than the flashing light trick.

I wish I had the bucks for something like the Sun scanner, man that thing tells you everythting and what to look for, right on screen and it allows you to control anything that is computer controlled on the car, right from the keypad. Unfortunately I think my cousin said they cost something upwards of $1500.

Get a scanner they are the best tool you can get for OBD II cars. Even Harbor freight has el cheapos for something like $30.

Thanks all. For today, I stopped at Autozone for them to pull codes. I had 4 instances of Cylinder 3 misfire. I think that is the coil that someone had already replaced in this car. I also don't think it is related to the problem I am experiencing on cold startup as I swapped all my coils with my wife's for testing and it didn't make a difference. I do feel a miss when starting the car rarely, and that is probably what threw the code. It will be nice to have a scanner and some datalogging ability!
