Finally painted the chrome on the bumpers, now it looks like a sport model lol.
Still have to get the rear surround and top part of the grille (this week)

thnx for looking

Looks good. Hopefully it will last. I would like to do that to mine. Did you use self-etching primer on the chrome?

i hope so too. yea, i used self etching primer.

scuffed it up using emery cloth, went across it a couple times with 00 steel wool (didnt have a clean rag around, just used to remove loose dirt/shavings), 2 coats of self etching primer (army greenish color), 3 coats of black paint, 3 coats of clear

Nice... Looks much better without chrome on a black car. A clear polyurethane or flexible bumper paint may add some durability?

Did you try gettin some quotes from a local body shop??

@02 linc, i dont kno, and the body shop guys didnt suggest any when i asked.

@black, i didnt get any quotes (i like to do things myself on my car, if possible). they basically said its not a good idea to paint chrome because it doesnt stick and will peel.

Thats what i thought.

You wouldint have been able to sand them down and paint them yourself. The body shop most likely thought you were talking about actual chrome.

thats possible that they thought that, but they see my car everyday lol. but still...

Much better....everyone with those nasty chrome strips needs to do this

Yeee looks good bro! Looking foward to see how the grille and
rear surround turn out

You're preaching to a small choir here. Too much chrome screams cheesy. For that reason strips and chrome pillars etc look bad. IMO there is a reason why Ford made chrome items body color on higher optioned LS's. Just my $.02.

To each their own.

he only speaks the truth :iconcur:

Easy killer :shifty:.

I have to agree about removing the chrome. IMO, it looks out of place on both the front and rear bumpers.
