McCain pick - Sarah Palin merged thread?????

Now that is definitely crazy, are you sure this is true? Reminded me of the scene in Borat, where he gets "saved" by babbling in baby speak.

I've held rattlesnakes before and they didn't bite me, odd.

I'm not making this stuff up, her association with the Pentecostal church has been all over EVERY news network INCLUDING Fox. This is an extremist church that subscribes to loony beliefs and practices including a belief that humans and dinosaurs co-existed at one time and that the Earth appeared in its present state, out of nowhere, in the year six thousand years ago. They let kids handle rattlesnakes for God's sake! Pentecostals are the most extreme fundamentalist sect of Christianity and certainly not representative of mainline Christians. Palin is off her rocker to associate with these nutbags.

The discredited Jimmy Swaggert, well known prostitution customer who thought Ozzy Ozbourne was sent to earth to "accept Lucifer as their savior and/or commit suicide" was a Pentecostal minister. He also criticized the genre of rock music as "the new pornography." Yeahhhh Jimmy knew a lot about pornography!

Convicted felon and Praise the Lord (ROFLMAO) Jim Bakker was a Pentecostal televangelist.

He was convicted on eight counts of mail fraud fifteen counts of wire fraud , and one count of conspiracy. Found guilty on all 24 counts, Bakker began serving a 45 year sentence (reduced to 18 years) in a federal prision in addition to a half million dollar fine. (Baker was granted parole). Lovely religious group that Palin associates with.

McCain made his ticket a laughing stock. I'm looking forward to President Obama taking office.

Wow, talk about six degrees of separation! So because Jim Bakker was a felon, Sarah Palin is damaged goods? :bowrofl: McCarthyism much? This guilt by association is so much papier mache. Next.

BTW, you might have a case if, for example, Sarah Palin had launched her campaign from Bakker's house - like Obama did with the UNREPENTANT TERRORIST Bill Ayers. But you don't have such a case. You are becoming a laughingstock before your debut is over.

What's funny is that you guys are acting like her religious persuasion is the SCANDAL OF THE DECADE!!!!!!!ONE1!1!!ELEVENTY11!!

Yet Obama has real scandals and real ethics issues to worry about.

The demagogues are out in force, that's for sure. You guys should go over to Daily Kos or Democrat Underground - you'd be right at home there.

I'll take speaking in tongues over "God Damn America" any day.

Next.

Obama never said God Damn America.

But Palin - PALIN HERSELF - participates in Pentecostal church services. These services don't involve listening to people speaking in tongues, these services involve actually speaking in tongues.

Sarah Palin, prospective Vice Presidental candidate attends an extremist church, holds beliefs that fly in the face of COMMON SENSE, HUMAN REASON, and BASIC SAFETY.

Obama walks into a church where someone gives a politically charged speech. I'd listen to a politically charged speech (a speech Obama wasn't present for BTW) before I'd participate in certifiably insane practices any day. And if you'd do differently then you'd be just as crazy as the Swaggert cult.

Wow what a load of spin crap that is...Fact is he was an active member for TWENTY YEARS. Better start getting your facts straight. You're not prepared to have this discussion.

1. You wouldn't vote for a Muslim running for office. I do not tolerate politicians professing to believe in patent bulls*it like humans coexisting with dinosaurs. Anyone with a belief like that is absolutely outrageous and unsuitable for public office.

2. She's the one under legally under an ethics investigation.

3. Sorry if you can't keep up with the discussion Fossten, but we aren't going anywhere. If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. Your boy McCain and his running mate are as dead as the ducks she hunts.

Get used to hearing President Obama. :D

Like I said, I'm still waiting for that "shoe to drop" on Obama, if he's really a Indonesian born Muslim, terrorist supporter with close ties to anti-government protesting bombers. Let's see it.

As far as demogogues being out in force, just look at the numorous anti-Obama threads in here.

As far as spin goes you have another thread regarding the stability of your positions and your flip flop from John McCain being unpatriotic to viewing him as the second coming of Christ. Take care of that first and then we'll talk.

Bottom line, Barack Obama wasn't present for the speech. She actively participates in bats*it cult activity. Case closed. Try your luck again next time.

Well that's your opinion, but you're definitely in the minority in this country, and that's a fact. So your closed-mindedness prevents you from voting for McCain...so be it. I'm pretty sure he doesn't need your vote to win.

And no, I wouldn't vote for a muslim, but Islam has a nasty track record when it comes to governments. Pentecostalism does not.

2. She's the one under legally under an ethics investigation.

Good luck with that, too. You must think McCain is really stupid and didn't bother to vet her. That makes you foolish.

Only a fool calls the election before the votes are counted, and you won't catch me doing that. I seem to remember the Kerry folks doing just that. Good luck with that.

Again, your ad hominem argument undercuts your credibility. Nice try, but you FAIL.

Just saw you said "guys".

Never said it was a scandal, but it is information voters should have, be it a positive or negative for them when it comes to voting. Just like Obama (supposedly) being a Muslim is an issue.

Look Deville, you've always been rather cordial so I'll discuss this with you.

With regard to the abstinence education, the only thing that's telling here is that Palin's daughter, who is a teenager, didn't listen to her. I'm pretty sure that makes her typical. Furthermore, she undoubtedly knows now that mom was right, and that abstinence works every time. In no way does her daughter's situation contradict Palin's position.

What's going to be interesting is the predictable left, who will advocate abortion in her case. Meanwhile, Palin will illustrate how a family can come together and deal with this situation from a pro-life, loving, supportive standpoint, rather than by just murdering the child.

What's amazing is a self-professed Catholic who has admitted that he will vote for Obama, who supports abortion through the fourth trimester.

Obama stood up though,

LOL.

Of course Obama stood up.

What was he supposed to say.

I'll give it a try....

Obama: Um, um, ah, um, gee, my mom got pregnant when she was 17 to some African dude. Even though it should have been classified as a rape, (daddy was 21), they eventually got married so all was well. Well, up until the point mommy found out daddy was already married to another woman. But heck, mommy ran off with another man a few years later who made us become indonesian citizens in order to live with him. Mommy got tired of him to so we shipped back to Hawaii and mommy made my grandpa and grandma raise me as she ran off and did whatever she does.

End of story.

LOL. No wonder Obama doesn't want to touch it......

You know how the politics game is played. Point is, if she can't keep her own house in order in regards to what she is advocating, it simple doesn't bode well for her, in fact, it smells of hypocrisy.

On a personal level, I don't care if her teen daughter got knocked up, teens rebel; that's just a fact (which is part of the point). But her stance on "abstinence only" sex-education for the rest of the country is absurd, considering it didn't work for her family. The pendulum swings both ways though, abstinence won't get you pregnant, correct, what does it matter when it's a failed ideology? If she was going to have sex (as she did), a condom and some sex-education would have probably helped her.

I don't see "the Left" making this into an abortion issue, there isn't a connection, Palin's family wants to child, it can and will be cared for, end of story (in regards to abortion). Sure, you might hear a peep here and there; but I don't see it becoming an abortion platform.

I have to look into that, I believe Obama holds the "if the mother's life is at risk" stance on late term abortions.

Palin falls flat on her face. Abstinence only education doesn't work. This proves it.

For a guy who's not talking to me, he's got a lot to say. I've got this to say, get ready for President Obama! :D:D :D :D

Fossten, you can't stand up to scrutiny. Your ticket won't have any cash value at the window. :p

1. Alaska schools have sex ed. She did not oppose it, either, so your assumption that she would try to force abstinence policies on the rest of the country is false. Abstinence was taught in her home. The daughter didn't listen. Enough said.

2. Obama's stance, if you'll check the link, is to support infanticide after failed abortions. He also referred to unexpected babies as being "punished."

3. I'm really glad that CNN is focusing on this issue. I mean, it's not like we have a war, high gas prices, or illegal immigration issues to discuss.

It was announced yesterday that Palin supports abstinence only sex education. This is her campaign stand. It was announced today that Palin's seventeen year old daughter is pregnant. Obviously, abstinence only education doesn't work.

She also supports the forced teaching of a 6,000 year old Earth. But that's a different issue.

I guess the left has declared war

Obama Supporters: The High Road is the Right Road But....

September 01, 2008 9:06 PM

ABC News' Andy Fies reports: Although Barack Obama has said the pregnancy of Gov Sarah Palin’s unwed teenaged daughter is “off-limits” and has “no relevance”, not all of his supporters agree.

Clinton Wray and his family sat among the 14,000 who gathered to hear Obama speak in Milwaukee this evening. While he supported Obama’s decision to, in Wray's words, “take the higher ground”, he was not convinced the pregnancy is irrelevant. “Republicans will say that they are the party of family values and that everybody else doesn’t have any values. So when you’ve used that, I think the public and the media have the right to use whatever you’ve put out to come back to you.”

Wray added that this applied to Palin too. ”This young lady is saying that she’s a strong conservative with Christian values. That’s great. But the Republican party has consistently used the religious right to say ‘we’re Christians,’ to say ‘we don’t believe in this and we don’t believe in that.’ And so I think they have to be held accountable…. She has to be held accountable.

Though Anthony Davis said he understood the hypocrisy argument made by people like Wray, he believes “the situation is a family matter that they have to deal with. To use that as a political tool, I don’t see that.”

Teacher Megan Kelly, who is raising a 16 year old, agreed it was not a good idea to make an issue of the pregnancy but was sure others would. Referring to Obama’s hands-off approach, she said, “I think it’s a good answer for him to say that it doesn’t matter because it really shouldn’t. But I think that it will, especially given McCain’s views on things, I feel like that’s going to be a big issue for people that are against him.

They are going to be bringing it up over and over again.” Though she is against that strategy, she said she understood it: “If he’s running on very conservative family values, I think that kind of diminishes his viewpoint.”

Supporter Bonnie Greasby called the situation a “private matter” and that it made Palin more like a “real person”. But she said the Republicans were to blame for “trying to paint her as the perfect woman and it brings it back that she’s not.”

Asked what might happen if the situation were reversed and the democratic candidate was the one with the pregnant teen daughter, Greasby and friend Linda Devitt laughed. Devitt said, “They’d be all over him. He’d be a terrible father.”

From James Dobson:

“In the 32-year history of Focus on the Family, we have offered prayer, counseling and resource assistance to tens of thousands of parents and children in the same situation the Palins are now facing. We have always encouraged the parents to love and support their children and always advised the girls to see their pregnancies through, even though there will of course be challenges along the way. That is what the Palins are doing, and they should be commended once again for not just talking about their pro-life and pro-family values, but living them out even in the midst of trying circumstances.

“Being a Christian does not mean you’re perfect. Nor does it mean your children are perfect. But it does mean there is forgiveness and restoration when we confess our imperfections to the Lord. I’ve been the beneficiary of that forgiveness and restoration in my own life countless times, as I’m sure the Palins have.

“The media are already trying to spin this as evidence Gov. Palin is a ‘hypocrite,’ but all it really means is that she and her family are human. They are in my prayers and those of millions of Americans.”
QFT. The media's attempt to paint this as a scandal will only garner more sympathy. Of course, Obama worshipers will rejoice with schadenfreude-laden glee, but who gives a rat's rear end about them.

Palin's hypocrisy is glaring.

There is a huge leap! Because she has a daughter who is pregnant out of wedlock, Palin is a hypocrite on family values?! Another non sequiter...

If I claim that you shouldn't do drugs, but my sister is a crack whore, then am I a hypocrite?

What should Palin have to in your eyes to not be a "hypocrite" in your eyes when her daughter got pregnant (which she couldn't have controlled). Should she have disowned her daughter? Thrown her under the bus like Obama? "This isn't the daughter I thought I knew"... ;)

Besides, how does being a "hypocrite" logically mean anything other then an attempt at an ad hominem smear, here?

She claims to be a family values type and her daughter goes out and gets pregnant. As someone else said, she is presented as the "perfect family woman", and yet she hasn't had enough impact on her daughter to refrain from sexual activity, nor has she taught her daughter to use birth control to avoid a situation disadventageous to her daughter. She's not the person she presents herself as. That's hypocrisy. Honestly ask yourself how the Republicans would treat Obama if this poor girl was his daughter?

A: How is she being a hypocrite? and,

B: How is that relevant?

I am tired of people wrongly claiming "hypocracy" all the time and implying that it is somehow relevant. It has become nothing more the a thought-terminating cliche. I am sure you have heard of the boy who cried wolf...

Show me specifically how this is relevant, please...
