Inertia switch needs to be reset after battery disconnect?

Say someone were to disconnect the battery on a 98 base for a few weeks, then reconnect it and try to start the car. Should there be any reason the fuel pump cutoff inertia switch would need to be "reset?"

I was under the impression that the only time it needed to be reset is if it experienced something hitting it.
 
It should not trigger. Its a physical switch. I used mine all the time to test the engine without fuel. A quick whack and fuel was off. :)
 
Thanks for confirming. Some guy is trying to jack me around on a 98, and I wanted to be sure.
