My AC didn't come on this morning and i need to know how much needs to be in the system.

2 pounds give or take. Is the compressor kicking off and on? Is it blowing cold, but not cold enough or just hot?

Thanks everyone, i had to go into work for a couple of hours today and when i started the car the AC didn't come on. Later i had to take my mom to the hospital and it started working on the way up there and on the way home that's why i didn't get to reply to this thread until now. I am going to have it checked out when i get paid on payday i will probably have to have some added to the system. I love driving this car. :D It is blowing cold but not cold enough.

Pepp, you can do this yourself and you'll be looking at around $25.00. Go to Wal-Mart and get a can that has a gauge on it already. The name of it is EZ Chill. It has the oil, refrigerant and "system safe sealant"

Start the car, push (Max AC), open the hood, go to the passenger side, remove the low pressure cap, shake can with hose against can or it will beat your knuckles lol. Attach the blue end to the ac port and read your pressure. You want it in the middle of the blue or to where it says 41 psi or so. It doesn't sound like you need very much added and it should stop the leak. I'll put a pic below of the stuff I'm talking about and you will maybe remember it better. O'Reilly's also has it. There are other brands that do the same but I have tried some before and the coolant just wasn't there and the leak didn't stop. EZ Chill done it for me. Just pay attention to your gauge and only add some every 5 to 10 seconds, when you know the compressor is running. If the pressure shows good, then I wouldn't add any.

You referring to car insurance? I hope you only have liability on that car. I got mine with State Farm for right around $150 every 6 months. I'm 42 with nothing on my record in the last 3 years except window tint tickets lol

Yup it is car insurance i should have posted that, i have only liability on it. I did check on full coverage and damn near fainted when my insurnace agent told it would 650 for 6 months.

Hey Pepper, the "low pressure cap" is the one on the (for simple sake) black can looking thing with pipes coming out
of it...passenger side by firewall, kinda behind the valve cover

Cool thanks Sapper i was wondering where it was, i will check it out tomorrow. :D

Just make sure to replace the little cap when you're done, they are the primary seals, the valve is actually the secondary seal, so it's an important piece to replace

sorry the pic is dark

Well i had some R134a added to the system today and that didn't work i was going to do that anyway, what i did since i was at work was i txt mespock and asked what i should look for he suggested i look at the fan behind the glove box and see if a loose wire was the problem. I checked some plugs and non were loose so i nudged a couple of wires and the AC started working again and i pushed the wires back into the plug that they were in. I will post a pic of the wires i touched tomorrow it's hot outside and i am tired. Woo Hoo i have AC again. :D :D :D :D :D

I had that happen to my 94 once ... So I just wiggled the wires on the fan. Plug somehow got loose. So I thought what if that happened on the 95. Guess what ... LOL ...

this is why a good description is needed, the ac was workin just not blowing. it can get us running in at least the right direction conti had the same problem and he said the same thing but just a quick check too see the fan isnt working and that is alot easier to figure out than a ac problem. glad it was an easy fix pepps

not bashin ya or anything just trying to show the noobs, ask the properly worded question and get a good answer, if they say crap is wrong then we dont know what way to go

As you can see two arrows point to the wires that were causing the fan not to work, i nudged them and the fan started working. I then pushed them back into the plug they were attached to and the fan has been working ever since. :D
