HID install WTF?

Started installing the DDM tuning HIDs/bulb out warning eliminators/relay harness last night. Checked both sides to see if the ballast worked or I would have to do the reverse polarity thing. Both sides worked fine. Called it quits when it got dark. Back at it this morning which pretty much consisted of me trying to mount everything cleanly and put it all back together. Test fire and the lights did not go on and passenger side bulb out warning eliminator popped and started smoking. Started checking everything drivers side is fine. Passengers side low beam wiring has 12V all the time lights on or off but the polarity matches the drivers side. If I use the drivers side to trigger the relays both sides work fine but now have the bulb out message when I turn on the lights.

Any help would be appreciated.

Did you try swtiching the polarity? If it's smoking, my guess is that it's on wrong. Did you fry it or does it still work?

I put it back together for now. Drivers side is triggering the relay so both sides light up. Just have to fix it because the bulb out indicator will drive me nuts. That one bulb out eliminator is toast. Casing cracked open and started smoking.

I triple checked them with the meter beforehand but who knows maybe it is as simple as that. Makes the most sense. I am busy today maybe tomorrow I will have time to check. Still have to get another bulb out eliminator even after I fix it.

aren't those eliminators just a resistor?

I think you get the same results with a resistor but I think this has more in it.

I didn't get around to looking at the lights again. I am not getting a headlight out message though so I am not in a rush.

yea the load resistors that they sell for LED lights would work also, but they get damn hot, way hotter then the BOWeliminators's do.

we where just talking the other day about how it says that they could explode if wired in reverse, thats f'n crazy
