I have been a Gold Member going on three years now, and for $30.00 a year it is a very good deal. The Vendors featured here give Gold members significant discounts on parts and if you work work on your own car that really helps out quite a bit. Besides the discounts the dues paid by each Gold member goes to help with the Hardware upgrades that this site needs ocassionaly for instance Dedicated Server . there are forums that are not viewable unless you are a Gold memberand you can get a Lincoln vs Cadillac e-mail address when you become a Gold member. It really is a good deal, If interested Contact Joeychgo about being a Gold member.

Eh. I decided not to renew simply for two reasons:

1. The forum searches have the same timeout as non gold members
2. The PM storage box is the same size.

I don't care about an lvc email, and the gold forums. we all know what wealth of info the Gold Member forums hold.

Let's not talk about the discounts.

It's not solely about what you get; it's in support of the site and hardware upgrades it will need.

The Gold bling is cool. but it's more than that, it's a way to help support LVC.

A Gold membership is the way to go for me, My favorite forum is in the Gold members area ( GIRLS :gr_devil: ) if you want to see what i post there join the Gold members Club. :D

Gold Membership is about support for the site. If you want to give something back to LvC this is just one of the many ways to show your appreciation.

I feel it's my thank you for all the money I have saved due to those members whom I PM for advice and support. For those who are willing to spend time on the phone when you I am sitting there frustrated on how to get that Damn bolt off or tell me where's that hidden bolt that I can't find that's keeping the progress from being a 5 min job.

If LvC can keep me from bringing my Mark VIIIs to the shop then I can fork out the $30 a year. I know I've shaved $1000s since 2004.

Thank you LvC Members...

Yes it can help you save money through the vendors, but it is a way of supporting the site and all of the great and helpful members here. People pay for porn, upgraded e-mail, and membership status at other places that are really not that helpful. The people here will answer your questions, walk you through simple things, help out when times are bad, and joke with you. It is a community just like the town or city you live in, and it deserves your support.

:I Well said my friend.

Ok Pepp. What are these "advantages" you speak of, exactly?

Aside from access to the gold members forum which we all know what it contains, what are the other "advantages"?

Look, I'm not against spending money for the "gold" package again. Typically I spend 10 times more money than the cost of a Gold Membership in a single day. But realistically, I need to be able to justify the membership.

But lets be honest about things. Joey God bless him is NOT open to any suggestions for Gold Memberships. As I said earlier, an LvC email account is not something everyone (including myself) is interested in.

How about not censoring (or showing censored words) to gold Members? This can even be done on a per gold member requesting that function. I mean, we're all adults here. Even if youngsters visit these forums, do you REALLY think they will read curse words they've never heard of before? Please....

This forum prides itself on helping it's members out with questions and the like. Great. Remove the damned 20 second search timeout feature. It makes searching the forums quite frustrating when you mistype a search word, or when you search for something, then you realize you searched for the wrong thing.

And I don't want to hear how not timing out the search function slows down the forums. I know better than that, having run (and currently help run) several forums with thousands more users than LvC will ever see.

I do like LvC, but I can't see myself spending money for another Gold Membership when all I get is an email address, a Gold member Avatar, and access to some forums that contain what, 80% pepp posts? Let me know if you want an account to a REAL amateur site, pepp. I can set you up with one. It's t a site that replaced ntfu.com .

Yes, Joey is.... But if I dont use a suggestion are you open to the concept that I might have a good reason? (Not trying to be sarcastic)

Simply put - Tell it to Google. If Google finds too many curse words, it will begin to filter the search results to keep LVC out of the index. BUT - I will look into something that does what you suggest, which is not filter the gold member pages.... One question though.. Why is this so important to you? I know you are able to convey a thought without those words, so why is using them so important?

It was removed a week ago and lowered to 5 seconds.... I dont see that being a PITA for anyone, but let me know if it is.

Actually, it can, if enough people, or more importantly, a bot, hits the button. Hence, the timeout. But as long as a problem doesnt develop, I have no problem leaving it at 5 seconds. We have the new dedicated server which is much stronger then the old server, so it should be a problem whatsoever.

Ok, what else should we offer? Give me things that are realistic, and If I can provide them, I'll provide them.

I think I remember seeing a hack on vbhacks that does just that. allows registered users to see full context, while blocking "bad" words for indexing bots.

Finally gave in, huh?

Well sure it can. But one of the forums I help admin has close to 6000 registered users, about 2/3's of those paid members. And we have us a lot of searching going on, but we haven't seen a severe impact on s SQL performance, nor have we seen a severe drop in server performance.

How about limiting Sig pic and or text quantity? nothing worse than loading up a thread, only to see 3/4's of my 1680X1050 widescreen taken up by some user's siggy. I mean, I understand people want o represent their cars, and they want to let people know of their "feelings" in a signature, but come on! some of those pics are ridiculously large. Lets not mention several lines of oversized, bold text.

I don't mean to pick on you pepp and mespock, but your signatures are a good example as far as text spacing.

Im working on the censor thing....

Sigs -- well, honestly, I would love to minimize the sigs -- but have always been afraid of a revolt.... :)

I say again... What else should we offer? Give me things that are realistic, and If I can provide them, I'll provide them.

Sigs are unique to each member and they should be allowed to determine the size of their own Sig.

Well, there is the argument that it makes it harder to read posts - some sigs are really very big...

That is why, I have made mine smaller. What size it will be in the future, I haven't decided yet. A larger sig can be used as an incentive to join the Gold Members club.

Quick question......When click on the order button for the gold membership, it takes you to another screen that states, "click the order button next to your preferred payment method". But the only option I'm shown is paypal. Is this the only option I have to order a gold membership?

You dont have to be a paypal member to use paypal. Paypal will simply take your credit card / check information...

gotcha....I had a paypal account at one time. I don't know if it would be active anymore or not. I'm sure I've lost the password and username by now anyways. Thanks Joey.
