Just another post about a happy customer. I had #s 3,4 and 6 take a crap so I just replaced all eight. Runs fantastic and best of all I have a two year warranty on them.
 
I don't know why anyone would buy the aftermarket coils off ebay. I have purchased 2 sets of 8 new Ford/Motorcraft coils in original packaging from a guy on ebay for $180 each time. That's 8 new factory coils for $180! The seller's name is Motorcraft50 or something like that and he seems to have a never ending supply.

who cares if their aftermarket or not, as long as they work they're fine with me i paid 115 from global automotive and they work so far, plus i really couldnt afford anything more than that at the time

+1.. I was just trying to get the car back in good running shape.. So I needed the money.. I still think they work excellent for what I paid for them..
 
If I knew there were OEM coils for that price on ebay, I would've bought those instead of the accels. dammit.

Oh well, the accels work just fine.
 
When I bought mine, I think I did get them from Global off of ebay about 2 years or so ago now. 4 of them actually had a motorcraft sticker on the coil, the other 4 had no sticker at all. All looked identical and all looked new. Either way, they all worked and fit perfectly fine.
 
global automotive works good for me, smoothed out my accelleration pretty good, like I said before I believe it all comes down to how the mechanic does his job.
 
I got them from a place called mass performance or something like that. I know they were out of Mass. 140 to my door and a 2 year warranty. Im not complaining.
 
My experience

Just wanted to share my experience with ebay coils.

About 2 -3 months ago I had mine installed. I believe i even got on here and talked about them as a great deal and they were working great.

Well, I've since had to replace 2 of them :mad:

The first one was pretty soon after and i negotiated with the seller... he gave me a $20 refund.
This one just flipped out on me this Saturday, and I replaced it with one of the original coils (fortunately i still had them). Not gonna bother contacting the seller this time. It's been too long.

If yours have been working great for a while, then that's great. Can't beat it for $140.

However, i learned my lesson. One more goes bad and I'm not messing around any more.
I'll have 8 new ones from the dealer before i even pop the hood.

Just wanted to share this. One i can live with... but 2...:eek:
 
I like the accels because they will be CAKE to change out. No more coil covers to work with. Swap a coil in 3 minutes :D

those look pretty sweet I think I'm going to buy a set of those and leave it laying around just incase. I saw them at autozone and was like "hey... pek has those"

Why not? I was reading the thread in the HP LS section and read that boot on these seal better than the oem coils, but is the seal that tight to not have to use covers anymore?
 
Yessir. If you like, I can take a photo of each boot. I tried to swap the oem boot onto the accel coil, but it did not seal nearly as well.
 
Wow. Thats pretty cool. So how do these coils compare to motocraft?. You can take pics if you want, but I'll take your word for it.
 
PICS PICS PICS... :Danything that has to do with an LS is worth looking at, ever if it's a tiny 194 led bulb.
 
The magazine, Modified Mustangs and Ford, June '09 issue, it was an '08 Mustang GT/CS with only 1,180 miles and they used the Pro Series Extreme coils, rated at 65,000 volts. It seems that the stock coils for the 4.6 are rated at about 20,000 volts. Granatelli Motor Sports (GMS) offers them in OEM Series, MPG Plus (15 percent better highway milage), Hot Street (40,000 volt) and the Pro Series Extreme. They used a Mustang Dyno, the only mod to the motor was a cold air intake, base line numbers where run with the cold air intake already installed. Peak hp 265, torque 298. After the install peak hp 292, torque 331. They decide to run the motor hot to give a more real world effect and then ran peak hp 292, torque 322. GMS stated that they should have only gotten about 8 to 10 hp increase. Final figures came in at hp 27, torque 24. I say that is not bad for N/A engine with only a cold air intake and coils.

Well I think quite a few people might care since there have been many gripes about the aftermarket coils on here. Some have said they are too long. Some have said a percentage out of every set didn't work. However you buy what you want.

Same for the mileage increase. If higher voltage coils increased mileage even one percent, then all cars made would come with them stock.

I could believe that replacing marginal or defective coils with new ones (OEM or aftermarket) would increase power and mileage. A fair test would have been to put in all new OEM coils before running the baseline, and then switch to the aftermarket ones.
 
Just replaced the three driver's side coils on my V6. 50/50 chance that should fix the miss.
Seems to run good but I'm gonna take it on the highway tonight and see how it does.
If not I'll have to pull the manifold and do the other three. Got the coils from Max at Five Star.

You don't need the covers anyway. The covers are aesthetic. If you have water and anything really damaging getting on your coils your problems lie elsewhere. There was a debate about this a while back when a few of us started switching to accels. I don't know about a power increase, but like I said elsewhere, the ability to go to an autozone and buy a replacement coil (something I only had to do with 1 since buying the accels) is pretty nice. It only cost me $20 so... I see no issue.
