Has anybody had any long term sucsess with dyeing interior parts? The bolster on my seat is shot and the black plastic parts turned purple due to the sun. Does the dye last a couple of years or is it time for seat covers. Is there any aftermarket company that makes the leather covers other than Ford? T.I.A.

i was looking into touching a few spots at one point. never pulled the trigger but i did find a few threads where some ppl were using a specific dye that looked good per the pictures. unfortunately i dont recall the name of it. it may not have even been on this forum, so i would recommend google if no one chimes in with the name of the dye

but in my opinion, car-part.com is probably your best bet. they total these cars left and right and you can get good deals on like-new used stuff if you shop around/call around. theres a ton of gen I parts out there for really cheap. ive seen excellent used genII seats for like $100... im sure the cover alone is way less if you call around

Check Ebay for seats. They have a lot of seats on there depending on what year of LS that you have. I looked into this years ago when I bought my LS. There is a company named Katzkin that make leather seat covers. I actually contacted them a few years ago to see if they made them for the LS and they said no. Reason being is the LS only came with leather seats. So basically they made leather seats for cars that had leather and cloth as a option. So if you had a vehicle that had cloth seats and you wanted to install leather then they was your source. I liked the customization that you are able to do when designing the seats as well.

I've used SEM leather and plastic dye with great results. They also provide exact factory matches. I've even got old stereo parts that were dyed but not used that still look good after 10 years even though they live in the nut and bolt box which for me is a plastic tub 1.5 foot by 1.5 foot by 3 foot.

No idea on leather seat covers, but you might try checking with your local upholstery shop. Might wind up getting a set custom made with the exact material and design you want for about the same as a mass-produced set from China. And, plan on replacing both front and rear seat covers unless you just want to go back with exactly what you have now or it won't look right, whether you go with mail order or custom made.
