Okay I know this must be a beaten down topic but I can't get this door handle off. I have removed the yellow clip but the rod attaching to the lock cylinder won't come off. Most people have had white clips that you take a c clamp off which removes the clip from the lock cylinder. However mine is red and is not connected the same way as the white clips are held. Anyone have tips for this? This is how the white ones look. I will try to get pictures if you guys don't know. Car is a 93.

Just went through this with mine. Since you already un-clipped the yellow clip. Disconnect keypad, CAREFULLY wiggle and rotate until you can pull the handle assembly out of the door, disconnect the lock and unlock mechanism, and lift up and out with the rod attached. The counterweight is a B***h though. I'm not 100% sure if this is the only way, but that's how I got it. oh, and have fun putting it back in!! Hopefully someone else will chime in with an easier method. I will never do it again. Be very careful with the lock/unlock switch thing. It's really whimpy!

It's removing the unlock and lock mechanism i'm having a problem with. This red clip won't come off the lock cylinder. I removed the white clip that attaches to the lock cylinder but the red clip attached to the rod won't come off. This thing is frustrating. BTW this is the passenger side.

if you clean off the dirt you will see that the clip clips onto the mechanism. Youll need a flathead to pop the arm out of the grooves on both sides. kinda tricky

if i remember correctly i pried from the side opposite to the rod. inspect before you start prying too much though. and be careful, you know how the plastic gets on these cars

I had buddy help so I could get needle nose pliers in the and a thin screwdriver to pry rod out of that frekin arm. I had to do this 4 times in a row.

I know the plastic clip will not come off with the door handle but the C clip design like seen in the first picture is not the design I have on my mark viii. As seen in the later pictures with the red plastic clip the design is different. It doesn't have the C clamp but rather that white clip you see in the last picture of my door handle. I pulled the white clip out but still can find no way on how to separate the red plastic off the lock cylinder. I will try tomorrow as suggested with pliers or something. Thanks for all your guys help.

Wow that was easy. All I had to do was push where the red line is in the direction of the arrow. Now who knows how to open the door without a door handle? I tired pushing down where the yellow tab is but no avail.

Can't do that if I have both of my door handles out... painting. I figured it out though; some how the door locked while i took off the door handle. Pushing down on the yellow tab as the door rod does will open the door.
