I looked up a water pump for a '97 MarkVIII and it cross referenced the same as a '99 Mustang Cobra. It did not list a Cobra "R" in the choices for '99.

same here. my parts guy said we gotta call SVT direct to get cobraR parts.

from the pics this pump listed is visually identical to the R pump. i think ford is using the R pump in all of the DOHC mustangs now. it also goes into the 05 3V engine.

Just order it from Johnny Lightning.

You won't find the Cobra R under MY99. It was an MY00 car.

when i can possibly get it for half from here?

from everything ive found all the new pumps have the modifications to it that made the R pump special.

The 99 Cobra water pump is an upgrade over the earlier 4.6 DOHC pumps.

no electric pump.

i might be putting my dual pass radiator in and i dont like the idea of an electric motor keeping my engine coolant flowing.

I used to think the same way. However, a few friends of mine have been running electric water pumps on the street for years with good success; I'll be switching to one as well. Give it a try, I think you'll like it.

An electric pump will do VERY poorly with a double pass radiator. The internal resistance of a double pass radiator is too high.

With a regular crossflow, an epump is fine, but NOT on a double pass.
