Just thought I would pass this on while I am building up the knuckles with the bracket mod on my 96 Mark VIII. The brackets are nice and worth the money. You can make them yourself but whats your time worth.I have a pretty tight tolerance with regard to the rotors passing through the caliper mount.I need to take about .060 off the diameter of the rotor to ensure enough clearence. So if you are looking to perform this mod be advised you may need to take down the OD of the rotor for your car as well.Just wanted to contribute to a great site.:shifty:

You don't take material off of the rotor, you clearance the caliper brackets!

I wrote that article and designed the brackets that Ed sells more than ten years ago.

You'd think that people might actually read my instructions, as Ed posts them in every thread he sells the brackets in.

Real men don't read instructions!!!!!!!

You know that!!!!!!!

I hear that if you weld the calipers to the rotors they will brake much, much better. Don't know though. I'm not a machinist.

I read this same information in a phamplet once.

But seriously....you have basically negated the brake mod. You took an 11.65 inch rotor and turned it back to basically stock....:shifty:

ease up guys tom is a good guy he isnt a dumb ass like most of the newbs here, he just isnt familiar with the mark VIII and he is trying.

What I wrote was .060 or sixty thousandths or roughly a 1/16 off the od.:shifty:back at ya.

Yea, those pesky decimal points. I Watched a trainee crash a Star SV32 running surgical titanium. Needed a -.065 offset to change the O.D. And fat fingered a +.65 in to the finish cutter geometry.

Titanium fires are fun.

Needless to say this isn't my job here and I'm not gonna pay too much attention to decimal points entered by a Noob, that (proven in this very thread), seems to not know what he is doing.

*goes back to watching Frogman's newly released midget/Shetland pony porn video.*

HTE, don't take it personally. The wrench turners are brutal to anybody and everybody who makes mistakes. You aren't the first by far, and you won't be the last. Stick around.

If you really want to see some name calling and mockery, visit the political threads. ;)
