Hey everyone. Well I been in want of a new radio. And I have been thinking about getting something touchscreen such as something from pioneer, or eclipse. But they just don't do everything I want. So I saw this and it looks perfect.

It does every a regular screen does plus more such as internet, as well as OBD II code scanner. So I was wondering if anyone has used something like this?

Its just a laptop with car audio connections and a 7" screen, heard about them but never seen it before. Looks kinda cool though

Wow and what a price tag. What else do you want your radio to do?

Well if you look at the stock navi unit its about 2200. But with this u get everything include obd scanner. Plus its just an overall nice layout

A few years back I worked with an RV company on a similar system that included 2 large LCD screens one for typical radio and nav functions plus a rear screen for entertainment, TV, etc. It also tied in the rear and turn cameras. The main issue that I ran into when working on the project was the fact that it is a PC. It was difficult to get reliability to where we wanted it to be for a full scale roll-out. Reliability is better now than it was at that time, but it will never be up to the level of a quality headunit. In your case it is a single instance so it might never be an issue. When you are considering a system for thousands of units and how to offer support all across North America it gets tricky.

I kind of find it hard to trusth the people selling stuff on ebay with out a name

I know 2 people that have this deck for quite some time now & have never had an issue. It's just like how people knock Jensen yet it's one of the best decks with all the bells & whistles for half the price of some decks.

I have been looking into carputers for quite a while now. Still not ready to make the investment. There are a multitude of parts suppliers so that you can piece together your own PC. I remember seeing one a couple years back (I think it was in a Nissan) that was just sick. I think dude had a 10" screen in it.
Regardless, there are still many things that make me nervous about building a PC into my car. Such as voltage regulation, heat dissipation, reliability, upgradability, and visuals in direct sunlight. Most of these concerns can be lessened with deep enough pockets... but I was not in a position to spend boatloads of cash on something I may not even like.
I must admit the thought of having wifi and possibly a 3g card in my car for always-on access is very appealing. With a big enough hard disk one could push playlists (movies and music) to the vehicle while it idled in the driveway prior to a road trip.
I'd really like to see an actual install and try it out prior to investing in one myself...

Item is in hong kong, that is a heck of a deal for all those functions, as long as it's reliable. I didn't see the brand name either.

Oh yeah I did see that. Didn't know it was the brand. Well like I said, its a heck of a deal if it is realiable. Comes with everything plus more.
