Brake pads at 5mm - change now or later? How thick are they when new?

The OEM brake pads on the LS (Gen II V8) are currently at 5mm and were all installed at the same time with new OEM rotors a couple years ago IIRC - was told they are "good" still but with winter coming up soon is it advisable to change now or later (ie. in the spring)? We do about 25,000 km annually.

Not sure how far (ie. miles or km) 5mm of pad will last before needing replacement which is at 3mm I think?

How thick are OEM LS brake pads when they are new?

Thanks!

Look at it this way; do you really want to find out? It isn't the mileage it's the amount of time the brakes are applied. You could wear them out in 1000 miles of mountain driving or 10K miles of freeway.

On further thought looks like we did about 60K km on this set of rotors/pads with primarily city type driving so based on wear from new pad thickness to 5mm in 60K km with expectation to continue same type/style of driving it should be reasonable to assume a similar wear rate from 5mm to 3mm...no?

In my state they don't pass pads with less then 3/32 (.093) At 5 mm you have .197 double limit.
