I have a 2000 LS and the auto headlights quit working, kinda. When I put the switch on auto the headlights stay on. No matter if it is bright and sunny outside they come on and stay on until I turn the car off. They work like normal headlights on the other settings.

If anybody has the same problem or knows what is wrong please let me know. Thanks.

I'm not sure, but the LS could just be providing 'day time running lights'. A lot of vehicles have this feature. If its bugging you so much, lift your left arm off your lap & rotate the switch to OFF. :) jk.

I believe the AUTO lamp feature just is available to set different delay times for when the lights will shut off automatically. For parking in dim areas to walk to the door perhaps.

If you don’t have a Canada LS with DRL make sure the sensor is not blocked. The sensor is in the little alarm activated dome in the middle of the dash, next to the windshield. The only delay you can change is the amount of time the lights stay on after shut off.

Nothing is blocking the sensor. I was just seeing if some other people have had the same problem. I was hoping it would be in the headlight switch because I don't know how to actually get to the sensor in the center of the dash.

And I'm not lazy it just sucks that I have had more problems out of this car at 85,000 than the Honda I got rid of that had 185,000 on it.

Thanks for all the help so far.

Don't quote me on this. If I remember correctly, in 2001 they made DRL standard in the LS. If yours has DRL and you don't want them, the dealer can reprogram the PCM to include DRL or not.

My car doesn't have DRL's on it. They have worked perfectly (off during the day auto on at dusk/dark) up until now.

DRL's werent standard in the US for 2000-2002 models. Not sure about 2003+. I have a different issue with my switch. I randomly and somtimes often get intermittent "auto delay lamp off" messages accompanied by beeps. I never use the time delay feature, and the beep will come if the light switch is in the "off" (daylight) position, in the parking lights only position, in the headlights "on" position (night). Doesnt seem to matter. Very annoying. Im guessing its the headlight switch that needs replacing, but not sure.

Anyone?
