Are ABS codes stored if light goes out

I was driving the car and abs would kick in every time I steped on brake. The ABS and Traction control light came on. After driving a little further both lights went but brake problem still occurs. Will a code be stored when I bring the car in? Im guessing its a bad speed sensor. Thank You for any advise.
