aftermarket sound sytem w/factory speakers?

Ok I could really use some input on this subject. I'm planning on installing an in dash DVD player in my LS with an aftermarket sub (probably alpine type r). For right now I don't really wanna change out my speakers but I know that the audiophile system is run off an amplifier. Is there a harness I can use that will go from the dvd player to the factory amp or can I use an aftermarket amp with the stock speaker system?

I think only the sub is run off a seperate amp. I just got infinity reference speakers, they were very cheap on ebay, if you don't want to spend a ton and still get pretty decent sound then I reccomend them. I also amped with with a 4 channel mtx amp that I picked up open box at circuit city. The install will take you... well plan on a day if you don't do this all the time and really want it right.

If your changing the HU, I would at least change the speakers also...

Even if that means waiting and saving up the money for it.

Ok so maybe I better ask this question. Do the factory speakers run off an amplifier or just off the head unit? ITs an 03 LS V8 premium sport
