I am wondering what to do next. The wife's 2006 LS with 41K miles engine light came on Sunday evening while we were driving.

The temp gauge was midway between low and high position as it normally is.

Once we got home under full power, I noticed that the level of coolant was low in the reservoir (about 1 inch in the bottom).

The car has not been driven or started since Sunday evening.

I have not added any coolant yet, but have a gallon of the gold motorcraft available.

I have an appointment on Tues. AM (05-19-09) with the Lincoln dealership to have them check the cooling system. The distance to the dealership is approx. 20 miles mostly interstate.

Should I drive the car there or have it put on a flat bed and transported?

Thank you in advance

If it didn't overheat previously I would say drive it and don't top off coolant. You can alway get a transported anywhere on the way if needed.
