I i decided that the next time i change my oil i would buy Royal Purple Synthetic and then my neighbor said that it wont do anything for a Ford. Does anyone know anything about this or has anyone ever herd of this? appriciate any info about this.
 
Check out the independant tests. Some university students have tested it and proven the hp gain. Tv shows have dynoed cars ,dropped all fluids, redynoed and got the numbers to prove the claims royal makes are legit. One of the hotrod mags did a top ten best dollars for horsepower and royal made the list ...low number though ten or nine. I run royal and so do friends. All Fords ....but it can be picky. It only works when the window is down on the passenger side, with no one in the seat and a dwarf in the trunk smoking a pipe with 1/3 tobacco and 2/3 oregano.
 
So what does everyone use in their Mark VIII's? Synthetic, or regular oil? So far, I have been a regular oil guy. Should we switch?
 
not really sure i just decided to try osmething new but it was a little bit pricey but i think in the long run its worth the extra money
 
I use Amsoil 0w-20, it has less drag on the engine than even Royal Purple and better protection.

Frankly, I think your neighbor is an idiot.

I only use Royal Purple. It is worth it in the long run. HP is better, engine runs smoother and cooler, and the gas mileage increases.
 
I think so too. all i hear is good things about Royal Purple . It was recomended to me by my cousin and that it is a good choice for my Mark VIII.
 
:rolleyes: First of all for your neighbor to say Royal Purple doesn't work on Fords is a stupid statement. Now if he said all cars , Then thats his opinion, probably bases on some other idiot's opinion, which was based on another idiot's opinion and so on and so on! Handed down from idiot to idiot!!

:cool: Royal Purple is a great product, With many benefits over regular oil.
( Now of coarse it's just my opinion! LOL LOL LOL)
 
sounds like your neighbor likes GM crap (or at least is anti ford) just look him in the eye and calmly tell him hes a idiot and walk away
 
I got amsoil in it now. Might switch to royal purple. I've ran amsoil for a long time, have to be pretty good stuff to switch.
 
actually i just saw on horsepower tv this weekend a dyno test with royal purple against regular conventional oil. 8 hp increase with the royal purple.
 
How is that? How can you pick up 8 hp at the rear wheel by changing to a different oil.....
 
I use Mobil One in my Mark... Should I switch to Royal Purple? I was told from a mechanic it works the same...
 
I use Mobil 1, but I make sure I pour it in with a plain brown bag wrapped around it so neither the engine nor the oil knows which is which. I don't want no bitchin, I'm the boss.

it was a eng dyno, so prob a hose or so at the wheels, but its been tested many times, maybe less friction, but people swear by it. i will say that i switched to 5w20 synthetic (motorcraft oil) and dropped .1 off the 1/4 mile, might of been a fluke though

I run Mobil One, 5-6K, its about $5-6 per quart. I just want the longest lasting engine i can get.
I agree that friction reduction can free up HP, but enough to feel in the seat of your pants- maybe. HP TV did do a good report on it.
I grew up in the early days of stuff like Slick 50 and it worked good.
I'd like to see what's available to improve trans and differential performance, as well.
