What would you guys suggest for a 19in wheel that is 9in wide? I was thinking 2455/45/19 but I am afraid that it might stretch it a tad and I want as much side wall as I can get to maintain as quality ride as possible.

265-275 is the proper width for a 9" wheel that will give you no stretch or bulge

255s were only slightly stretched on my 9.5" rears. I personally don't like the look of the sidewall bulging over the rim, although that offers the best protection. I loved the look of 255s on 9.5".

I think you'd be good with 255s.

Some pics I took for Ben's LS

9.5" with 60mm offset and 255s up front:

I apologize for the filthy car...

T-money, thank you for that insightful contribution to my thread.

Blwnbyu you say 265-275 is that with a 40 series sidewall?

Mlara1129 thanks for the pics. You have a little bit stretch but it is a 9.5 in wide wheel. I wonder what those would look like on a 9in wheel?

I think I'm going 255/40 on mine when I finally do end up buying tires. Hopefully soon.

Sidewall ratio doesn't make any difference..

I'll go out to my garage and take a pic of a 275 on a 9" wheel.

I prefer to have the tire be at least flush with the rim or it will be inevitable that you get curbrash eventually

Ok so went to a tire calculator. Here is what I found:

235/55/17(stock)=27.2 diameter and a 5.1in sidewall

275/35/19 = 26.6 diameter with a 3.8in sidewall

275/40/19 = 27.7 diameter with a 4.3in sidewall

265/40/19 = 27.3 diameter with a 4.2in sidewall

255/40/19 = 27 diameter with a 4.0in sidewall

So with that being said the 265/40/19 would be the closest to stock diameter wise but they are harder to find and more expensive. I will probably go with a 255/40/19. I think based on my searches of good old google that tire size on a 9in wheel will work and look good.

blwnbyu, Thank you, and I agree the more flush the better protected. I assume the 275 is only out back...?

mlara1129, do you have any rubbing issues? rolled fenders?

I forgot to mention I will be installing eibach springs

Recalculate. The stock size is 235/50/17. The 16" was either 215/60 or 225/55; it changed in 2002, IIRC.

Yup 235/50 for the stock 17s.

And I never actually drove around with them upfront, But there seemed to be a lot of clearance.

Thanks for catching that error. I googled it because I couldnt recall the stock size and that was the first result.

Anyway stock size is 235/50/17=26.3

the popular 245/40/19 most 8-8.5 wide guys use is 26.7

I am thinking I will have to use the 255/40/19 still because although a 265 would be right on, you can't find them cheap. mlara1129, based on how yours looks and mine are a half inch narrower I should be good with this size.

Any thoughts, or any one have some pics of 9in wide 19s with tires they wanna post?

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
235/50-17 4.6in 13.1in 26.3in 82.5in 768 0.0%
245/40-19 3.9in 13.4in 26.7in 83.9in 755 1.8% Section Width: 9.6
255/35-19 3.5in 13.0in 26.0in 81.8in 775 -0.9% Section Width: 10

Example Bull's car with the range Rover wheels have 245/35-19s on it.
245/35-19 3.4in 12.9in 25.8in 80.9in 783 -1.9% Section Width: 9.6

So the 255 is a tad shorter than the 245 obviously due to sidewall ratio.

Based on that info and looking at what Bull runs, I think you are right that the 245/40-19 might be the way to go. My only concern is my rim is a whole inch wider and I dont really care for the stretched look and I want the protection. decisions decisions
