Hey all,

I'm having problems with the 96 Mark stock cd changer. It won't read anything. I'm going to put another system in eventually, but I'm still saving. I just got a brand new 10 disc cd magazine. I put it in and it still says theres no cd....are there any common problems with this? any ideas? thanks.

The problem is the stock disc changer is a piece of crap. Every time I went over a bump it would say "no disc" and I would have to stop, open the trunk, and eject and reinsert it. Do yourself a favor and get an aftermarket changer/headunit.

Recently started having the same problem in my '96. The unit is made by SONY and I'm going to have it checked out before scrapping it as I've had problems caused by bad connectors and wires being worn through. So if the unit checks out OK then it'll be time to take a good look at the wiring harness.

Who makes an aftermarket cd player that will connect to the factory harness and work with the factory stereo?

I had a Alpine changer put in the trunk, You have to prest a radio station to use it, but you have to use there extra controls with your stock unit.

its called jvc go get a $110 deck for now that stock changer is an aggrivating headache

I don't want an aftermarket deck, I am wanting to keep the factory set up. It only acts up every now and then anyways. I thought that someone mentioned that there was a aftermarket cd player that will connect and work.

I don't know if there is an aftermarket cd changer that will work. I would think that you could get an RF changer (one that works by using a radio station) but I heard the sound quality on those is lacking. I don't see the point in keeping the stock HU if you are looking for sound quality. I got rid of that thing as soon as I got the money.

My in dash CD player works great for me, maybe just switch yours with the in dash CD player but you will lose your tape player

I have this problem every now and then. I usually have to eject the cart and re install it. Some times just turning off the car and waiting a minute and then re starting it seems to get it to recognize the CD cart is in it. I just deveoped a new sound in my sysytem, when it changes CDs there is a little electrical pop sound that didn't use to be there. Anyone know what that is?

Which end are the wires wearing through, the radio head or the CD Player in the trunk?

I haven't looked at the CD harness yet, but I've had that type of problem where wiring harnesses go to the trunk lid and to the doors.

Tape Player what's a tape? LOL...:p

I did a hunt on ebay and have a 12 disc JvC changer with a JvC indash unit that also read the changer.

I only paid about $50 total for both.. with each retailing at $250+..

I really like the set up... You just need to be patient for the right deal...

this thing doesn't work at all. it was missing the magazine when i bought it. the guy said it worked fine. but thats probably not the case at all =).

now if i could find something like what mespock found itd make me a happy camper.

You just need to be patient... if you want to do what I did... The JvC units are nice. Most do not come with the cable but they are available for about $20 on ebay or $70 from JvC.

I went with the JvC JvC combo as the head unit would play the changer and also give me the option of playing a CD from the dash.

It took me about 2 months to find what I wanted and Lost a lot of auctions. I gave myself a limit as to what I wanted to spend. (Ok I'm cheap)....but I ended up with a really nice set up for very little money....

The changer was only $11.00 plus around $5.00 for shipping. The in-dash unit was around $25 and about $10 shipping. Not too bad for a $500 set up.

I know there are guys who spend $1000s on their set ups but that's not me.

Good Hunting on eBay... Oh one option that I love about my changer is I can randomly play all discs...

I have what you want a brand new in the box JVC head and CD player plus a brand new in the box 12 disc CD player with the control cable. i paid a lot more for these than $50 I assure you. I bought them to put in my MasterCraft boat to replace the units it had. I ended up losing the boat before ever installing them. I want $100 per unit plus shipping. If interested PM me and I will send you my email unless it is on here, which it maybe. I take paypal also.
