00 LS - Stalling

Hi folks,

My LS has started stalling intermittently while my wife is driving. Naturally, since she's driving it, it's totally her fault. But, it's been happening when stopped at traffic lights and stop signs, and the car usually starts back up without a problem. No codes.

2000LS, AZ car, 41k miles, CAI and Magna Flow installed during XMas, but the car stalled twice before the install and now twice since.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

I called my trusty Ford dealer, and the tech said the problem could be anything from a bad coil, to a vacuum leak, to a faulty fuel pump. Naturally, he said I should bring it in so they could put it on the $92 diagnostic machine. I asked him if a coil is bad, wouldn't I get a CEL? He said not all the time. He also said that since the symptom is happening irregularly at best, the diagnostic machine might not even find anything. Sheesh!

My V6 did this when the hose for the PCV valve collapsed from the engine heat in its enclosed location. I'm not sure if there is a similar issue with the V8 or not.

I had a V6 the went through the pcv issue and if I remember correctly from the tech manuals the v8 does not have a pcv.

Is the car spontaneously dying? I went through a similar ordeal with my 00 LS V6. The car would just die without giving any indication that anything was wrong.

Oh I'm dyin' to hear where this one goes.My 02(V8) has done it twice in the last couple months , once while making a turn.Not funny.Started right back up tho.Can't be sure , but I'd swear it has a slight studder once in a blue moon just cruising along as well.I'm sure they're related.No codes.Hope for some feed back here as well.Yet one more reason for my wife to hate my hot rod....LOL

lol...Yeah my wife hated my last LS and was stunned when I told her I was buying an 03 LS after I totaled my 05 G35.

The shutdown problems I went through started out as an occasional matter then one day it just started happening more frequently. Yeah I have almost been run through by just about every sort of large SUV and city owned vehicle such as buses.

I got really good at doing rolling restarts in the interstate and didn't mind the shutdown when it happened out there. It was on the city level streets where it freaked me out. Trying to scramble for the hazards andrestart the car was a real stresser.

The dealer had my car for over 90 days between the two visits. First time was about a day... they gave the car back and said all fixed up. Yeah right. The very next evening the car was towed back to the them and that is when they took custody of my baby for about 3 months

First item the replaced on the 1st visit was the fuel pumps. 2nd item was the rear electronic module. Why it took so long to come to that conclusion I will never know but it seemed to fix the problem.
