¿tranny fix?

Hey I found this while looking at some google hits on the 5r55n. I am not a tranny guy by any measure and would like to know a little more about this.

Interesting. I found the info page on that here:

I think the whole transmission has to come out for that one! Too bad it wasn't some fix-all for the valve body. Who knows...maybe this is a root problem that the valve body masks.

I have emailed their info address with my phone number and requested someone contact me. If I do not hear from them by Wednesday I will call them. If I have to drop the tranny to do the job them so be it.

I think mine is fine for now but I want to get the infomation now just in case. Plus it might help some of the other viticms. What I found curious was that they billed this as a fix for 5r55n/w/s. I thought the problem was specific to the N.

check this one two as it pertains to the 5r55n and does not require the tranny to be dropped. this is a fix for no 4th or 5th.

I do not recall having this problem. I wonder if they are refering to the harsh up shifts.

My car is having problems with 4th and 5th under medium to heavy acceleration. If I use mild acceleration the car just jerks a little going into 4th and 5th. I am going to install a new 4-3 prestroke spring from sonnax and see how it works.

umm i'm having a 5th gear only problem, sounds like its the valve body from the various other LS owners that have driven my car an replaced the valve body. when shfiting from 4th-5th it will buck/hesitate/jerk/shake whatever. it will continue to buck/hesitate/jerk only while accelerating lightly- full throttle. when the throttle is full it doesn't buck/hesitate it pulls hard then doesn't pull quite as hard an then pulls hard again then doesn't pull hard basically making your head nod as if you were listening to a song?

Wow an old post but I knew what it was about before I even clicked to read the updates. Let me know how it works; I went through several tranny rebuilds using oem parts and the problem always came back.

Do you think I ought to go ahead and purchase a rebuilt valve body vs installing the new spring in the valve body? The tranny only has 30k miles on it.

yeah time wise it will be a lot easier to just swap the valve body. Are you going to have a shop do the install for you? If not you are going to have one heck of a problem replacing the trasmission fluid.
