Where can i get the White Plastic Insulator between Shocks and Coil Springs?

My mechanic friend suggested using a small piece of heater hose on the coil spring where it rides on the flange. I actually made a small plastic "gasket" for the flange the coil spring rides on to insulate it. I made it out of an old plastic engine cover (the one underneath the car to protect...

Where can i get the White Plastic Insulator between Shocks and Coil Springs?

I ran into an issue changing the front shocks on my 2000 LS. When removing the coil springs from the shocks I noticed the "white plastic coil spring insulator" the coil spring (that sits at the bottom of the coil spring between the coil spring and the shock flange) was broken in two pieces...

DO I NEED NEW NUTS? (For Upper control Arms)

Thanks for the replies. I picked up OEM Ford (Jaguar) Upper A-Arms. FYI... the ones i got didn't come with new nuts for the upper balljoint or the pivots but plan to pick new ones up today just for piece of mind. Especially after previously having the nut on my lower balljoint come loose.

DO I NEED NEW NUTS? (For Upper control Arms)

I picked up new Upper control Arms for my 2000 LS and noticed the upper ball joint did NOT come with a new nut. Also the upper Arms did NOT come with new bolts (or more importantly Nuts) for the pivot bushing ends that mount to the upper shock tower (the nuts that secure the upper A-arm to the...

2000 V8 LS Lower Radiator Hose blew

My lower radiator hose cracked (blew) yesterday while wife was driving. See circled portion of photo where the plastic portion cracked. Car overheated. Got it home after letting it cool down. I found out this lower radiator hose (without the oil cooler lines) is a special item and not even...

Replacing the cooling fan pump actuator

Problem solved! I went out of town the day after my post and ended up having the car towed (free) to my mechanic friend's shop. He was able to get this out for me. He said what he did was pound a socket over it and then it screwed out. He installed the new actuator I had picked up from...

Replacing the cooling fan pump actuator

Guys, i have a major problem and am stuck and need your help. I was changing out my cooling pump Actuator and part of the old Actuator is still screwed into my Cooling Fan Pump housing. It seems part of the Actuator unscrewed from itself when using a #40 Torx to remove the Actuator. See my...

Replacing the cooling fan pump actuator

Is there a layman's way to test the fan speed and whether or not it kicks into "high" mode? Example: should the fan automatically kick into high speed when you press the A/C on? My car is overheating (not on highway) but at stops and suspect the fan or solenoid, etc. From the...

Replacing A/C compressor - How much refrigerant oil in each component?

I didn't end up replacing the expansion valve. It looked to be too much of a pain to get at and was told they rarely need replacing. My A/C is charged back up and cold, blowing about 37 degrees F in 90 weather!

F Me! Power Steering Pressure Line a $#$@$!

Well as it turns out. I only needed this part below, not the Power steering pressure line which doesn't include this part. Had to order it through Max and got it today. Will install it hopefully tonight or tomorrow. Mine was definitely leaking from that point, not just turning...

F Me! Power Steering Pressure Line a $#$@$!

Ok now I'm stuck again. On the power rack end. I can't figure out a way to get two wrenches on both the fittings. The lower fitted that goes into the rack itself needs to be held in place (it's a 19mm sized fitting). Other hard line fitting for the PS Pressure hose is a 17mm sized fitting...

F Me! Power Steering Pressure Line a $#$@$!

I was able to get the old fitting off at the ps pump end with a 18mm flare wrench. It was accessible since I already have taken the A/C Compressor out of the way. Now I'm going to replace the PS Pressure line since it was leaking between the tubing and the fitting and i understand that rubber...

    Leaking power steering fitting

Thanks Joegr. I'm getting a new PS line today and will install it tonight, hopefully. If anyone knows what order and how to install these two items (A/C Compressor or Power Steering Pressure line fitting to pump) please let me know. The old A/C compressor barely came out with the PS...

F Me! Power Steering Pressure Line a $#$@$!

As far as the 18mm flare wrench goes, i will get one and try it but i think it might be almost impossible to use it due to the Pully location. Even with it exposed. I'm more worried about tweaking this line again when i go to reinstall the A/C compressor. Maybe i'll have to install the...

F Me! Power Steering Pressure Line a $#$@$!

Thanks for all the helpful info. I have a 2000 LS V8 as you guessed. I'll probably have to get line locally instead of from Rock Auto since i need to get this thing running quickly (only vehicle)!
