    Car not starting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've seen bad alternators cause an intermittent starting problem too. Once started it runs fine but the short in the alternator caused it to start/not start at random. It also affected the fuel pump and eec relay. This one was a bear to troubleshoot due to the intermittent and random...

    accumulator?

I sand the contacts with emery paper or a points file. Then reseal the relay with a SMALL amount of JB Weld. I do this on all my relays and it works for a while before having to buy new ones. ABS is ~25 from Ford, the suspension, fuel pump, EEC, and a/c are ~15 from Advance. This may work...

    accumulator?

If you still have good brakes it could be the relay. If the accumulator is bad you should have a really hard pedal, same feel as driving with the power steering broke. You can take out the relay and stop the pump instead of disconnecting the battery. Sometimes tapping the relay frees it up...

    Exhaust advice wanted

I looked at mine and called Summit tech and asked for 2-1/4" with the same offsets. I don't remember the part number but the mufflers are shorter than stock. The stock left and right are not the same length anyway so the offset is the only thing that matters. The pipe is new and the shop made...

    Vacuum Leak 97 MKVIII

I had a similar problem on my '93. It turned out to be the flex tube from the exhaust to the egr valve. It sounded like a vacuum leak at first. I don't know if the gen 2 cars have the same setup but it's worth a look. Dave.

    Exhaust advice wanted

I've got one car with the Dynomax Super Turbo and one with Summit turbos. The tech guy at Summit told me his were made by Walker. They were $15 each so I figured I'd put them on my daily driver for comparison. They sound stock and are a good buy for the money. The Super Turbos have a DEEP...

    Exhaust advice wanted

I've got 3 different mufflers on 3 of my 7's. If you don't want it loud put 2-1/4" from cat back with Dynomax Super Turbo. These are deep sounding but not loud like Flowmasters. If you want loud without the price, Force Automotive makes a Flowmaster copy for $30 from Summit. One warning on...

    How-to, Adjusting tranny bands?

My '93 was slipping into neutral at 40-45 mph. Any change in throttle position and it would go to 3rd or 4th gear. I disconnected/reconnected the battery and this fix lasted a few months. Last weekend it came back. It didn't matter whether I was in 3rd or 4th it would slip in and out of gear...

    shaving weight.

I'm taking my doc's advice. Quit the candy bars and exercise more. He guarantees I'll drop 20 lbs from the driver's seat. Besides I like all the extras the Lincolns have, that's why I don't have Mustangs. Dave.

    Smoke and fuel mileage

My '93 does the same thing. It also rattles at startup only after sitting at least overnight. The smoke at startup is after a few days. It's not much, seems to be valve seals. I've had many old Chryslers that did the same thing and ran forever. I change the oil every 3-5000 miles and the...

    low idle

Take off the cowl and wiper motor assembly like Mike says above. It's easy access then. Dave.

Where is the schrader valve on the fuel rail of a VII?

On the front passenger side of the engine, just above the header on the corner. Look down about 2 inches behind the alternator. Dave.

Detailed both Lincolns this weekend pics

Aerosmith rocks. Throw some Skynyrd in that 8-track and the MkIII will fly on the top end!!!!! Dave.

    Window Mouldings

I don't remember the name of the company but the number is 800-256-6927. The guy I talked to had a Mk 7 and had the dew wipes made. He has inside and outside. Both door outdsides were $110 and both door in/out were $150. Quite a bit pricier than the JC Whitney fix and I don't know the...

    D1R or D2R? (HID)

What are the D1 and D2 bulbs? At $100 they are far cheaper than the Ford bulbs if they would work. Has anybody jumped the ballasts and installed stock gen1 bulbs in the gen2's, or used the Mark 7 bulbs in the gen1 or gen2's. I know that car is a one bulb system but if it would work...

    AirStruts from http://www.suncoreindustries.com/ DAMN!!!!!

I've bought some before that had something in place of the solenoid to keep moisture out when shipped. I've got them deflated totally, with a plastic stud protector installed, and with a nozzle deal installed. I ended up making a test rig out of the nozzles. I'm not sure if this is the case...

    Squeaky front end...?

Caliper or hose will cause it to pull while driving. It may be as easy as putting your hand on the wheel when you first stop the car. If it squeeks when hitting bumps it's probably the suspension. The caliper would make noise on a flat road. If it's the caliper or hose causing the pad to...

Im Happy :) and Im sad :(

Your bags are fixed forever so it don't matter now but it is puzzling why they didn't work. I've had to take the weight off the suspension on some of my 7's and 8's to get them to inflate before when they were all the way down. I figured it was a weak compressor maybe. I used the fill...

    Flowmaster 40's?

I've got 2 Super Turbos waiting to go on the next car that needs them. I got them from Summit when Walker had the mail in rebate. I think final price was $15-20 each. FYI, when I was talking to the Summit techs they said the Summit turbo was ALMOST an exact copy of the Super Turbo, and it is...

    Flowmaster 40's?

My son had Force Pro Series installed on his '87 LSC this summer. They are 2 chamber and made to sound like the Flowmaster 40's. They will tell you this when you call their tech line. He got them from Summit for $32 each. They're quality constructed and look like they will last... time will...
