    DCCV bypass question

No, it would be very different. The DCCV, even in summer, opens every single time you turn the key off. (It is wide open when the power is off.) And, if the engine is hot, the aux pump runs for several minutes after cutoff. Also, while running, once the cabin temperature reaches the set...

    DCCV bypass question

Not so much. The factory DCCV lasts six or so years (how much longer will you have this LS). The aftermarket ones last a week to a few months. I had two LSes and kept both to close to 250K miles and about 15 years. I think I had to replace the DCCV twice on one of them, and three times on...

    DCCV bypass question

No, doesn't happen enough to measure. It's the same reason that you probably have to run your shower a little bit before you get hot water. The water in the line cools off and doesn't reheat because there is no circulation, even though the connection to the water heater is open.

    DCCV bypass question

Because there is no circulation. Water has to flow to transfer heat, and it can't flow if both ends of the circuit are not open.

Anyone installed a tow hook on the front?

First gen, yes. Second gen, no. (His is second gen.)

    2005 lincoln ls V6 12 65 code

B1265 is a false code on the 2003-2005 LS. (It would be false on the 2006 too, except they finally updated the firmware to not give that code.) Most likely, your DCCV is mechanically stuck open.

    PCM or Transmission

I wonder if you have a problem with the solenoid pack in the transmission that is damaging the PCMs. Did SIA indicate which parts were being replaced each time they repaired the PCM? Also, some transmission faults will can be masked until the adaptations start. You said the last PCM worked...

    Break issues

Yeah, but it's just about impossible to correctly bleed the brakes (when there is air in the lines) if the ABS won't cycle.

Know anything about a Lincoln mkz

I don't know anything about them really, but with my anti-FWD bias I can't call them sporty...

    Break issues

Might work better if you used brakes instead of breaks.

Been reading a bunch of threads and can't quite find quite my specific issue. Coolant leak, dccv, heatercore, maybe headgasket?

So you will learn like many of us the hard way. Fix one leak, the next weakest piece of plastic pops the next day, rinse and repeat. It will end up costing you even more of that money you don't have... I wouldn't bypass the heater cores. That's a part of the engine cooling, post shutdown.

AutoZone's car code says I need to replace the PCV valve and/or hose...

Nope! P0171 is fuel system trim too lean on bank one. Many things can cause that code, and a bad PCV valve might on cars that have a PCV valve. (Note that the V8 LS does not have an PCV valve but can produce code P0171.) I am amazed that so many miss the fact that the OBD codes almost never...

Been reading a bunch of threads and can't quite find quite my specific issue. Coolant leak, dccv, heatercore, maybe headgasket?

It should sound like a jet when the temperature needle is past the half way mark. No blend doors control air temperature. The DCCV controls that. All plastic parts need to be replaced, now.

    Slight coolant leak

ETC failsafe has nothing to do with engine temperature at all, and 225 is a reasonable temperature in traffic and is not overheating. You can usually lower the temperature by turning the AC on (makes the fan run faster). My 04 would randomly throw the ETC failsafe with those codes when it got...

    front hub and bearing replacement

Do you really mean to remove the studs, or are you asking about removing the hub? The hubs just fell out for me (no road salt here). I do think there was a thread about using nuts on bolts to push the hub out as they were turned.

Code P1504 IAC Circuit Fault. NEED HELP!

I think that the service manual just says not to change it. When you get things fixed, try to set it back to where it was. My wild guess would be about 500 RPM fully warmed up.

Code P1504 IAC Circuit Fault. NEED HELP!

I'm not sure about the easiest way. I would probably remove a little insulation from an open area on the wires, and then seal it back, maybe with some liquid electrical tape, then cover that with real electrical tape after it dries.

Code P1504 IAC Circuit Fault. NEED HELP!

Those measurements are meaningless without the IAC connected. With no load (from the IAC), you really can't tell at all what the PCM is trying to do.

Code P1504 IAC Circuit Fault. NEED HELP!

Why is that counterintuitive? The higher the voltage, the more open the IAC valve is. The lower the RPM (below target idle speed), the more open the valve needs to be to speed up the engine. All this seems to indicate that the circuit to drive the IAC is working. (The IAC was plugged in for...
