UPDATE - passenger side done, drivers side next weekend.
New strut mounts arrived Thursday. Glad I was able to get Motorcraft versions. I ended up replacing the shock/strut as it was leaking fluid. Purchased Monroe OE Spectrum 71344 from O'Reilly's mostly because they were the only ones who...
Rock Auto showed they have two left and I ordered them. Time will tell if they ship. If not there is a local guy that deals in Lincoln parts and I will hit him up.
I am guessing when they replaced the shocks they either used cheap mount plates or over tightened the nuts stripping the studs in the mount plate. I am going to grind off the nuts and order new motorcraft mount plates. Anyone disagree?
I replaced the expansion tank and thermostat housing when i did my DCCV and hoses. Replaced thermostat housing with the Jaguar version vs going with plastic
Started the process to replace front suspension components and I have hit a snag. I am trying to remove the shock assembly but the the four bolts up top holding it in place are spinning when I try to remove the nut. There is nothing grab but threads and dont want to damage those.
The shocks...
Still no light after more than 500 miles. Car past inspection. Beginning to think the shop may have been trying to take me for a ride or the system healed itself.
So I did a reset on the P0456. I have driven just over 100miles and so far no light. Last time light came on after 200 miles. I want to try to sneak in an inspection if I can. How many miles do you need to drive to have the sensor show ready and the car can be inspected? Is 100 miles enough...
That does include parts. I was thinking of taking it to the local Lincoln dealer to have them verify the diagnosis. I have had good luck with the shop that diagnosed it but they have changed owners and a lot of the staff has changed and they are not acting like a local independent shop...
That is what I was afraid of. Can this realistically been done on jack stands or is it really a job that requires a lift? Seems like a crazy amount of work for P0456... Ugh.
Local shop did smoke test and says my canister and vent valve are bad. Quoted $1800 to fix. Is there a DIY for this? Based on the estimate I am guessing it is a beast of a repair.
