How-To Repair : Hydraulic Fan Pump Actuator / Solenoid

Thanks to the help I got here I was able to get the actuator out .While I was at home depot buying a file to try, I saw a bolt extractor that looked promising . I needed to work from below the car but I was able to get the 1/2" extractor socket to start on removing the rest of the actuator by...

How-To Repair : Hydraulic Fan Pump Actuator / Solenoid

Unfortunately, this one is a V8 and there is not much room to get anything on from the top that can be ratcheted or turned. From underneath the car,I was able to use a ratchet with an extension to the T40 bit and get the actuator to turn out but it came apart and left about half of itself in the...

Hydraulic Fan Pump Actuator in Detail Failure

The first pic shows the end that was directly screwed onto the pump ,notice the threads. The threads it screws onto are actually sticking out of the pump now. The second pic is where I put the T40 to remove the actuator. I'm guessing that I need to remove somehow whatever is sticking out of the...

Hydraulic Fan Pump Actuator in Detail Failure

Great article . When I removed the actuator from my daughters car about half of it stayed in the pump. It screwed apart easy enough but now I have threads sticking out of the pump and I'm not sure what to do at this point. I read that someone filed something and turned it out but I'm not clear...

I wish I knew how far the threads on it go into the pump and if they don’t go in any further , what the heck holds the rest inside ? Going to stop by a dealer in the morning for any info they might have . Thanks for your interest .

    2002 Ford Thunderbird questions

I saw these posts earlier and they are actually why I think some of the actuator is still in the pump. I’m not 100% on this so I’m trying to get an idea as to how to come up with a solution . If the threads belong to the pump I don’t want to screw them up . But I’m tempted to screw the actuator...
