coolant leak between thermostat housing and housing connector (2005 V8)

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I like the pictures in here. And I see the last post was me, just over 2 yrs ago... So I have the same problem again and will be replacing the coolant outlet pipe (8A504) and coolant outlet pipe (9N499) as I have a leak at the interface between these two...

Where Is the Brake Fluid Leaking?

Yeah, I'm sure most never suffered my issue. But I'm in what was the coldest capital city in the world this morning. My conspiracy theory is the road salt, brine, grime, and everything else nasty on the roads leads to corrosion and a leak -- and the driver's rear caliper is the most...

Where Is the Brake Fluid Leaking?

No idea -- around here it's easier to cross your fingers and get a reman. But you should see it wet around that seal. Eventually mine got bad enough that I could see the wet trail down the back of the caliper and a tiny wet spot on the ground.

Where Is the Brake Fluid Leaking?

My experience has been leaking at the seal for the parking brake arm on the back of the driver's side rear caliper. I have had the OEM and two reman leak from the same location. And only the driver's side. It appears to be worse if you use the parking brake.

    Intermittent "rumble strip" sound

Late to the party... any update? Not sure what the rumble strips are like in your area but where I am, they are pretty violent and much more awakening than an involuntary pulsing ABS. My experience has been (on another vehicle), the rumble strip sensation was a bad ball joint. Would seem to...

coolant leak between thermostat housing and housing connector (2005 V8)

Miine appeared to be leaking from the bottom (unless it dribbled down from the top, but I don't think so). But in looking at your pic, yeah it's obvious how it's not inserted as much at the top. It would sure be nice to remove that joint in favour of some clamps and a hose.

coolant leak between thermostat housing and housing connector (2005 V8)

Hmmm... good question. I forget what I did originally now. Maybe cut them to get them out and then put in shorter ones when I assembled. They are shorter than the others. Assuming I did that, it was way easier than pulling the intake. I am replacing both pieces as I don't know which one is at...

coolant leak between thermostat housing and housing connector (2005 V8)

Not necessary to remove the upper intake. I've pulled these parts off twice now (the original, then my replacement) without problem and will do a 3rd time now that I just got my new parts. I do have to remove the TB and housing that runs to the intake. Last time I removed the EGR, but I don't...

coolant leak between thermostat housing and housing connector (2005 V8)

Yeah, I've got a cart filled at Tasca with new parts and gaskets/o-rings, just in case. Just waiting on whether i should pull the trigger...

coolant leak between thermostat housing and housing connector (2005 V8)

Thanks for the info. I yanked it all out last weekend to inspect. The o-ring looked fine, as did the other interfaces. The only place I could track staining back to was that joint. And today I could see a drip forming and running down, so I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's the joint b/w...

coolant leak between thermostat housing and housing connector (2005 V8)

Lots of great threads here on coolant part replacement, but here's my problem. I replaced all the plastic pieces and gaskets in 2016, 20k kms (12k mi) ago, 2005 V8. I have a leak at the joint between the thermostat housing connector (the angled tube that goes to the block), p/n 2W9Z-9N499-A...

    GenII LS8 Cooling System Overhaul

Thanks a lot for this thread and the many others on this topic. It was very useful. I used the approach of removing the TB at the manifold and using shorter bolts. For reference, if you do the same and want to replace the TB-manifold gasket, it is a Victor Reinz G31844 (the TB-elbow gasket is...

2005 LS V8 upper rad hose (KM-5356) alternatives?

I doubt it - it had clean original tags and stickers on it and no indication of clamps. No return is common when in Canada because shipping costs from the US are so high it's less hassle to send out another unit than refund shipping. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

2005 LS V8 upper rad hose (KM-5356) alternatives?

Just to give an update -- I picked up another OEM hose and it's been a few weeks and no leaks. I guess the first one was a dud.

2005 LS V8 upper rad hose (KM-5356) alternatives?

Bought from a great online vendor and got a full refund for it w/o having to return. Just hoping the new one will last. Any experience with the aftermarket ones?

2005 LS V8 upper rad hose (KM-5356) alternatives?

Well, the probably leaked as soon as it was under enough pressure but I didn't notice for a couple of days (didn't drive it much). I'm going to try another OEM one but hell yeah, it's a design flaw. I put some high-temp epoxy on it and I've been driving with it for the past few months, but it...

2005 LS V8 upper rad hose (KM-5356) alternatives?

Did a search and noticed someone had one fabricated but other than that, are there any suitable aftermarket alternatives to the V8 upper rad hose (the KM-5356)? I've got a 2005 and the OE hose leaked at the seam that runs lengthwise on the plastic interconnect piece. I replaced with a new OEM...

installing OEM springs (especially the fronts)

Glad to hear it worked out. I had considered that when working on it, and thought I might have to loosen them, but in the end did not.

    Need Confirmation/Reviews: KYB shocks

The shaft, when fully extended, is about 1" shorter than my OEM ones were. The perch is at the same location as stock. By "happy", I mean they feel (drive) and dampen/rebound (bounce) like stock, but it is hard to say just how the ride is to stock since I had broken springs. I had problems...

installing OEM springs (especially the fronts)

I like the KYB shock/OEM spring combination so far. Hard to compare with the full OEM setup though as I don't know how long I was driving on broken rears. No big difference either way so the best I can say now is the ride is comparable.
